For those who have older siblings, have you ever experienced this?

I was always compared to my brother growing up. He learned things faster, got good grades, skipped pre-k. He got all the games he wanted, computers, consoles. Even stealing my things wouldn't be an issue if he did it. Whenever he hurts me he would only get a light scolding. After a couple of those instances, he began to discipline me the way he saw fit. It sucked majorly.

Fast forward to now, I would say I am doing significantly better than him, smarter than him, got way better grades but that doesn't seem to change my parents minds

if Einstein was your older sibling but you got straight As and went to college at 15 yrs old, they'll still be like "y u no invent E = mc^2??"

For me my older sister set really high standards for me academically. I've never been that academic , I've always passed but not to a high standard like her which made my parents become disappointed in me , rip

idk personally bc by the time i came along i was the only one at home; siblings are much older

but my coworker has 2 kids just two years apart and it is soooo obvious that the first one is the favored child. not that the other one gets neglected, she's still loved and all, but def that first child is favored. it's obvious with the grandparents too when they come to school events

it makes me... not like that first child lol, though he didn't do anything. but he is super clingy and whiny unlike the second child. And ofc he gets away with it. i really don't think it's ok to prefer one child over another but whatever... what do i know, i'm not a parent...

It was the opposite for me. My step-fuck pretty much disregarded me as soon as my step-bro was born.

It is the opposite for me. Being the oldest, I'm more like the Guinea pig; a test subject so that they'll know what NOT to do with the next one which would be my younger sibling, who is their favourite.

Yes. I was blissfully unaware until I happened to be around one grandparent who admitted it in my presence when I got to 13. Oh and I have no baby photos neither do the other younger siblings. Mother never got around to it. Big sis though, the first has one in her christening dress. She was a beautiful baby. By the time mother did turn a camera my way I was old enough to run away since I was unused to the posing thing. That meant yet another year without my photo. I only got one when they had school photos when I was in nursery. Then the grandparents got a hold of us and never stopped taking photos.
