I remember Elfen Lied. Good anime, love all the gore that is in this one.

It was a decent enough experience for me....back in the dark ages of Netflix where the website was only a dvd rental site. lol

No but seriously the faintest of memories, and as many have said probably the ecchi spoke to my teenage self. And I remember the gore being decently shocking.

I don't think I was ever gaga over it, but it certainly had some appeal.

Remember it? I'll never forget it. Brought it on DVD way back in '05 when ADV (remember them?) licensed it and dubbed it.

Not the best show ever made, but easily one of my all-time favs to this day. It's fucked up-ness made up for it's shortcomings.
*nostalgia*

Pretty much. Though what I really remember was the opening theme. Some of the lyrics are based around the Biblical passages of Psalm and the Epistle of James which are sung in Latin.

Fantastic opening, wasn't it? That song and the Gustav Klimt inspired artwork set such a beautiful, tragic, foreboding mood through the series. Shame the ending song was so out of place.

It was ok for watching once because of the music, atmosphere, and concept. Kind of a crappy story though. And totally absurd to not just wait another year for the manga to finish before animating it. Or at least...I don't know. Get a vague idea of where the story was going to end up going by talking to the author (like Game of Thrones has done).

From what little I've read about it, the manga ending looks a lot more interesting and wraps up some story arcs that you saw fizzle into nothingness with the anime. Unfortunately I don't enjoy reading seinen manga though, so I'll likely never end up seeing it first hand

That anime ripped my emotions all over the place. I thought it was well done, but I don't think I could bring myself to watch it a second time.

Was at a bachelor party and a buddy said it was his wife's favorite anime. I had a double take, then made sure I heard him right. He said, "Yup, I had been trying for years to get her into anime and then she saw Elfen Lied and loved it."

I personally liked it quite a bit, but I don't think I would ever have suggested it as intro anime. Who knew?
