Post Reply Account suddenly vanished

My account seems to have simply vanished while I was in the middle of watching some anime. The video playback suddenly became choppy and when it wasn't improving, I refreshed then opened and closed my browser only to find that I'd been logged out. I've tried to reconnect, but I'm told that no accounts with my username or e-mail address exist. And yet, when I set up this temporary account, it told me that the username was already taken. I'd just recently payed for another 12 months of premium, so I'd like to get my original account back.

What's your username?

My original account was under the username "Shizenshikei" and had the same e-mail as this account.

It looks like you fell victim to weak password management.
You probably used the same password across several sites, one of which was hacked and had its user data leaked onto the internet.

I've reverted the email change and changed the password.
Please go through the password reset procedure and set a new unique password. Do the same on any other website you have been using with the same credentials.

Also run a virus scan on all of your devices to make sure that it was not a local issue.
Furthermore check the devices page in the settings for any devices you do not recognize and remove those.

Your payment details are safe, as we are not showing the full details to anyone - not even the owner of the account.

Ah, feels good to be back! Thank you so much, shinryou.

Luckily enough, this is the only site I currently use where I was still using that old password (which was admittedly terrible and needed to be changed long ago), so I suspect either an old site I'd long forgotten about still had it registered or, as you've said, I've been overtaken by spyware.

Thanks once again! I think I've got some scans to perform now, if you'll excuse me...
