Texting, particularly for work. I can send photos that way. Plus, everyone can take their time and respond at their leisure. That said; I much prefer face-to-face conversations, and struggle to retain interest whenever talking indirectly.

I text because I'm so much better at writing than talking. Though, I make calls when I have to relay information to my parents, because the fastest way to get them to answer haha

I've noticed that when texting, there's sometimes that moment where the conversation dies down, and when calling someone, there's usually something to talk about.
Or maybe I just suck at having conversations.
So I guess I'd say calling.

I'd say for me it depends on the message to be relayed as well as who I need to relay it to, and what I expect they are doing at the time.

For instance, on a weekend, I'll just pick up the phone and call because I expect most of my friends and family to not be at work and to be able to answer and carry on a conversation. If the person always goes to church on a weekend I'd check the time and if they are likely to be in the service I'd send a text so as to minimize any interruption to their church experience.

If the info includes a list or something easily forgotten such as the phone number for someone else I'll usually text that so they can refer back to it. So if I were going to ask my sister if she can pick up a bag of ice and some lemons on her way over to my house I'd send that as a text. Or if my mom called me and said she needed the phone number for dr. so and so's office because it wasn't in her phone, I'd probably text it so they'd be able to look at it when they need it.

If the friend is at work or expected to be somewhere they can't answer the phone I'll text so they can get back to me at their next break time.

If the message is especially urgent - ie I just saw your mom taken to the hospital in an ambulance from the grocery store, I'd call voice regardless of what I expect the person to be doing.

I live in an area with terrible phone service so I always choose to text over calling. I like to be able to refer back to something as well and a text allows me to do that.
