So what was your first Anime? Inuyasha? Sailor Moon? o:

Sailor Moon, yeah. And this one VHS of Star Blazers (the dubbed Space Battleship Yamato) that I've always had for some reason. Can't remember where it came from. I have to watch SBY for real sometime.

Aha I figured it was one of the two, seems like people in our generation, a large portion started with one of those listed lol. I started with Inuyasha thinking "wow cool the main char is cool he has cool moves but his brother is much cooler" I would watch the 4 movies out of order and pretty much watch the entire series out of order. It wouldn't be till..hm I guess I was 17 or so where I would revisit the show in order and actually understand what is going on and why certain plots play out the way they do. No love for Sailor Moon though, It was a show I watched when there was nothing to watch, though my sister would go from Sailor Moon -> Card Captor within the same year she found both.

Star Blazers I remember this faintly but never got into it, dang though the only thing that I ever found on VHS was Digimon and I don't even remember anything about it except Agumon LOL.

Ok so how about this, what was the show that, upon finishing made you realize "wow this wasn't a normal show" or made you think "This is a really great show"?

Hey and welcome, even though I've only just started using the forums myself and don't know any people on here yet, they seem like a nice bunch so I'm sure you'll find some friends on here

I have quite a few of those, really . . . They're not all Japanese, either (though some, including the amazing Gargoyles, were animated in Japan). My avatar provides a clue to another series I love---it's already been mentioned here in the thread. ;)

And while Sailor Moon isn't your thing, for me it was wonderful. I was a very clumsy little kid and a bit of a crybaby---I obviously identified closely with Usagi, who is the same at the start of the series---and I learned from her that it was possible to be stronger while still being myself.

It seems this is becoming a one-on-one conversation---maybe I should move it to PM---but I also wanted to say hi to the folks who just posted. It means a lot to me that you took the time to say something. Hopefully I'll see you all around, either on the forum itself or in video comments.
