I staunchly oppose the death penalty. It is exceedingly expensive compared to alternatives, puts undue strain on already limited judicial resources, puts the state at risk of executing an innocent party, and does not appear to function as an effective disincentive against committing capital crimes to begin with if criminologists are to be believed.

Actually it is quite effective at stopping repeat crimes for criminals that are released early for good behavior.

I don't understand the logic behind the argument that the death penalty stops repeat offenders. If you commit a crime so horrifying that you make people puke and want to wash their mouths just from speaking your name, I doubt you'd be sentenced to anything less than a life sentence in the first place. In which case, you've already been stopped from repeating crimes. The death sentence at that point would just be overkill, literally. The odds of such a high-profile criminal not being guarded enough and escaping are extremely low. If you're in jail for something like burning a dozen people alive and you're trying to escape, you probably have a better chance of getting struck by lightning twice.

It's not like we're talking about a guy arrested for doing drugs and is released 20 years later. Speaking of which, this is actually the bigger problem with our justice system. I understand that people are concerned with prisons being overcrowded, but the solution isn't to kill people. The solution is to stop putting people in jail for long periods of time for petty crimes. Not just that, but also focus more on rehabilitation. It doesn't make sense to put a drug addict in jail, leave them like that, release them later, and expect them to magically stop being addicted to drugs. Clearly not everyone can be rehabilitated and some crimes are more difficult to deal with than others (like rape or murder), but that doesn't mean nobody should be given the opportunity.

As others have already stated, the death penalty is expensive, doesn't accomplish anything, and only causes more damage than what it's trying to fix. Anyone who tries to tell themselves otherwise is only fooling themselves.

They should be purged immediately, miscreants and malicious spawn like that have no place in this world. There lives where forfeit the instant they throw away there humanity. Only when confronted with the ultimatum of life or death, accesental death devoid of malicious intent and negative emotin, or mercy killing at the request of the recepient are exceptable. War is a travisty, anborition and an abomination on mankind devised of their own making, words like "patriotism" "dive justice" and "retribution" are falsehoods consived to shroad the facade "the ends justifie the means" if you contribute to the cycle of blooshed you are a infraction of the root of calamity and if dine crime exists you will surely pay the ultimate price your soul everlasting condemned to the rapture of anguish and unyielding despair for time emamorial.

I won't even argue this opinion with the human contiusness conglomerating here so the strife ends here if you have a problem with this I suggest you change your deit and take a nap because you are a hot blooded child with an irrational irreconcilable need to push your ideals on another.

I do not want to argue with these others either but, I still stand for the death penalty people can due there own research into it.
What gets me is how quickly others forget the victim who has no voice that the sad part is possibly died some horrific way. I found a clip
of a father who had his daughter killed you can see the pain when u look at his face I feel for the fathers loss!

warning clip below can be graphic
