well i'd say it's dark matter when your cycling on dark street without streetlights on and out of nowhere you notice row of white teeth and eyes.In same spot that seemeed empty till then. Then one hears "hello jamal. Care to light my cigarette?".True story.

What happen?

My limited understanding of Dark Energy and Dark Matter:

Normal energy and matter will lose density as it spreads out in space. I believe most if not all people have a solid concept of this.

And while the density of dark matter supposedly acts similarly, the density of dark energy remains constant. This means that as space is created with the outward push of the universe, so too is dark energy created.

Also, consider that we have only seen what we BELIEVE to be the effects of dark energy and dark matter. We have not really witnessed or measured it directly. It's like this: If you were to drop many tiny invisible shapes into a glass jar of water.... and were only able to peer into that jar from a great distance, with an instrument such as binoculars.... you'd still know more about what was in that jar than we know about dark matter and energy.

MY THEORY: Dark Matter and Dark Energy are not Energy and Matter at all. What we are witnessing is how the dimension of space interacts with matter and energy on levels that we do not yet understand. The entire idea behind dark energy breaks our known understanding of the laws of physics, in that it is created by the expansion of the universe and our understanding is that energy is neither created nor destroyed. However, if you look at it as an interaction between space and the material within the universe, it begins to make a little more sense.

But, hey....who the hell really knows?

I agree with quite a bit of that. I doubt it's actually matter at all and more of just a naturally occuring phenomenon, like Black Holes. I've come up with my own law (not sure if it's already out there) and so far it seems to hold true to things I've looked at. Though it's obviously no wide-accepted law by any stretch lol. I believe if one force or effect exists, than a polar opposite force or effect exists or is at least possible as well (there must be a perfect counter force). And no I'm not talking about Newton's basic laws of physics lol. Basically everything related in the universe related to physics has an evil twin to counter the original effect. If infinity exists, then so does zero. If light exists, then so does darkness. If gravity exists, then some sort of "Anti-gravity" exists (Dark Energy). Now I'm not trying to sound arrogant or anything but the way I saw it, Newton's law talks about an equal and opposite reaction comes off from every action, so I thought my concept of "Opposition" was different from that as I believe it simply "exists" or is "possible" not directly reacting from the original force in the first place. But if this concept is already in place than I guess someone already beat me to the punch lol.

I was told a long time ago that reality is simple, it's humans who are complicated. We overthink things and overcomplicate them. So I do not believe this whole "Invisible Matter" "hidden dimension leaking into ours" stuff quite yet. I'm sure it's a lot simpler than they think. If a Black Hole (Point of heavily concentrated matter in space) exists, then Dark Matter (heavily diluted, lack of matter/force in space) fits the bill as the opposing effect in my eyes.

But if my imaginary law I made up myself is a legit law that isn't the obvious Newton law, please let me know. It'd be pretty cool if I was right. If not I'll keep playing with that idea and see what I can come up with.

Dark Matter is matter that does not emit energy. It sounds cool, but is actually incredibly mundane. For example: a rock. You take a rock here on Earth, put it about a million light years from Earth and bam, it has become Dark Matter. We can't detect it from that far away because it does not emit any energy that we can detect. Other stuff that would be included in this would be planets, comets, asteroids, and probably most importantly gaseous nebulae consisting mostly of hydrogen that has not condensed into a star. Most matter in the universe would fall into this category of Dark Matter. Probably. While it cannot be directly detected all matter does have gravity so it can distort light we see from far off celestial bodies.

Dark energy is best thought of a negative pressure exerted by a vacuum on a cosmic scale as explained by relativity. This forces seems to grow more potent the more vacuum there is, ie the more the universe expands the greater the acceleration of this expansion becomes. Prior to about 5 billion years ago it is believed the universe's expansion was decelerating. But as this negative pressure increased the expansion started the accelerate again. Most of the universe consists of this void.

Dark matter/energy is matter/energy that's going through the awkward phase in high school where they wear only black clothes, listen to bad emo songs, and constantly post online how sad their life is as they lay in their parent's mansion with Sebastian, the butler, serving them champagne and caviar.

What? Am I wrong?
