So I usually use an iPad or some sort of mobile device before I sleep and last night I passed out while using my iPad. I found it this morning on top of my down comforter with a fold over it. I started using it and heard small "clicking" noises tapping on various parts of the screen and I'm worried. Don't see any scratches or cracks but it started making noises that I never heard before until this incident. Is that my screen protector making the noise or did I actually damage the iPad with my body weight rolling around my bed in my sleep?

Aside from that how many of you use your phone, tablet, etc... late at night until you fall asleep/pass out?

I use a kindle fire tablet to watch anime/youtube for hours.

Mostly to catch up things I missed during the day then I'll just pass out after I've caught up. (At least most of the time.)

EDIT: Just looked at it... turns out there are a ton of cracks that it has obtained over the years.

But 90% of those cracks in the screen appeared from me dropping it......

I read using my Fire in bed at night, but I always manage to set it on the night table and plug it in for charging before I fall asleep. Before I bought the Fire I did the same with an iPad mini.

Sorry to hear about possible damage to your iPad. That would make me very sad and annoyed with myself if it happened to me.

It may be damage, as my sister once did that with her tablet.

The way to tell if it is your case or not (screen protector wont change the sound), is to lay it down alone with no movement and see if you hear any clicking. If so, it may be damage.

Also, look it up, if it uses an HDD (hard disk drive) it will make clicks, and that is fine. If it uses an SSD (solid state drive) and it clicks, that is bad news.

More detail would be helpful too.

Have one friend whose bed caught on fire because she was charging her tablet and it got under the covers when she dozed off.

That being said, you should check your settings you might have turned on typing sounds or something by randomly touching the screen after you dozed off.

I use my kindle in bed sometimes, but if it is charging I make sure it is not on the bed.

If you sleep with it IN bed (and risk rolling over on it), then, um, yeah. Could be a problem.

Me, I'm always in bed with my iPad--in winter, I'm under the blankets with a glowing iPad like a kid reading comics with a flashlight--but I have a headboard bookcase behind my pillow with enough room to prop it up as a screen, safely out of the way.
I can watch a little CR before bed (one Folktale From Japan, of course), set the ten-minute sleep timer and put on the latest audiobook. Used to set it for fifteen, but I never lasted that long.

I sleep with mine. It's in a pretty thick case, though.

I also keep it near my legs if I'm going to bed, so I don't dig my arms into it if I roll over.

I watch a random anime show just before bedtime, it helps me sleep easier, because most of the times the shows are boring.

Of course, occasionally I landed on an exciting show, and ended up staying up until 6AM instead...

Sometimes, I do forget to place the laptop on my drawer, it stayed on my bed and I sometimes knock it out. This has happened several times now, it's still functioning OK. But my floor is carpet so maybe it's alright.

I did a few times... but I would still be holding the ipad despite me dozing off... but I mostly did this when I'm playing on my PS3.

I use my phone until I fall asleep to watch youtube videos. I need to get a tablet to do this with too. I just make sure it's not charging while I do it.
