I don't know if this is the right place for this discussion, so to the mods: you can delete this if it breaks any rules.

Anyways, onto the topic at hand.

From the GoFundMe page:

A loving, long-time active duty Navy family suffered a crushing tragedy when their oldest son, 13yr old Alex, inexplicably drowned at an end of year swim party hosted by parent and faculty volunteers. The event was held at the Vista Murrieta High School swimming pool, and was sponsored by the middle school band and choir booster club associated with the Dorothy McElhinney Middle School.

The event was supervised and life guards were present, but adults never realized Alex was missing until a classmate reported seeing him at the bottom of the pool.

Though Alex was rescued, it is not known just how long he was under water.

Alex had just recently performed in a pop dance recital, and is known as a very active, athletic young man. Those who know Alex know him as thoughtful, caring, and quick-witted.

Right now, Alex remains in a coma as his doctors do everything possible to help him. The outcome is not certain.

Alex is bravely fighting for his life, and faces a very difficult road ahead.

This campaign has been started to help with the mounting costs of the specialized treatment and ongoing care that Alex is receiving.

If you're unable to donate, please keep Alex and his family in your thoughts and share this campaign with those you know.

UPDATE 1: Thank you all for the outpouring of love and prayers Alex and the family have received. At this time, Alex's brain activity is diminishing quickly and unless the hospital has clear signs of life, they will remove him from life support. We need a miracle right now. Keep fighting, sweet Alex, we love you.

Guess I can spare a 5 or a 10.

Edit: Damn, I only use Paypals and not cards. I don't exactly have a legitimate debit or credit card

Those lifeguards are a bloody failure.

Worked at my city pool as a lifeguard for 3 years... Saved 5 lives. It isn't bloody hard. It really isn't. Talk about bloody lazy.

From the Site & Forum Rules:

5) Most commercial advertising is not allowed, but promotion of crowdfunded projects that are likely to be of special interest to Crunchyroll users is allowed as long as it breaks no other rules, and is for smaller independent companies creating an actual product. Links to your own music, art, reviews, etc. that you create are allowed when they are on-topic (but don't spam them).

So this thread and threads like it are fine so long as it doesn't come to the point of spam or fraud. Support funding is okay so long as it isn't funding for you a new car for example.
