If the father is such a callous person that he so easily dismissed that poor woman's rape as just being "20 minutes of action" then I think I've figured out where his piece of shit son got his views on sexual conduct and responsibility from.

As a side-note, I encourage anyone interested to read the letter statement the victim read to the the defense in court. She communicates the point far better than I think any of us could. https://www.buzzfeed.com/katiejmbaker/heres-the-powerful-letter-the-stanford-victim-read-to-her-ra?utm_term=.rd6RgZeyj#.oyE3EX1wm

Go blank yourself. What the hell would you do if this was your daughter?
find it so weird how many people over there view rape and such and doesn't really use the "rules or laws" for anything or plays their own game.. from ideas like most others.
Sounds like he saw her as nothing much then a obstacle for his child (this my child is good mentally? or just wrong views) if she was like a slut and seeing her or how she lives a problem? but I should check who she is and such and what he might think of such.

The father should apologize, son should apologize, and then the son should proceed to jail.

Someone should put a bullet in the brain of that rapist and tell the dad, "hey, that was only 1 second, so I should not have to go to jail for 1 second of action."

While I disagree with what the father has said, one should take into account that he was trying to protect his son in the midst of presumably deep grief and disappointment...I think. The letter can be taken many ways. A proof of rape culture downplaying sexual assault, for one.

Inb4 someone says I'm too soft on rapists.

i'm absolutely disgusted. not only at the guy - who should be castrated and receive a minimum of decades in prison (as well as pay compensation for the victim), but also at the judge, who claims that

a longer sentence would have a “severe impact” on Turner
- Judge Aaron Persky

the judge should be stripped of his status and investigated. chances are, he also made similar soft judgment to other rapists.

I'm going to get hate about this and I'm not saying that she was lying....just that when the victim is a woman everybody goes crazy and nobody cares when the victim is a guy.

There were no witnesses proving that what he said is true? (that they were dancing and kissing), she claims she doesn't remember absolutely anything. Lesson learned for both of them.

It's not the father's job to decide on his son's sentence for the crime. That's what the courts are for. Now debating whether the judge gave out the best sentence to fit the crime is another debate. The father's job was to raise his son to be productive and have good morals and healthy interpersonal relationships. He had a lot of say in that. Either the father failed or the son wasn't paying attention when he was raising him. I don't think the argument that it's his first crime so he would not likely repeat that works. How do we know that he hasn't behaved like this before and his father dismissed it? The father has shown how little he regards the son's acts as being terrible so I wouldn't trust his word on anything. This is the first crime he's been caught and charged with according to the available facts. It may or may not be his first crime. None of us can say.
