Greetings.
On my way from work just now, I had somewhat surreal experience with a beggar, which made me wonder what other intelligent and delightfull anime enthusiast do.

I was in unhealthy mood and stopped by McDonald's, picking up way too many cheesburgers for my body size and just a little bit down the street, an obviously homeless man was sitting there with a "cap to throw money in" and sing saying "Please, hungy". Though, well, what the hell, have enough burgers to get sick anyway so... I handed one his way.

He gave a very prolonged stare to my extended hand with fresh, wrapped cheesburger, then stared at me for a second and told me " Go fu*k yourself with your fu*king burger, give me money." in very calm voice tone. Then followed a while of silence, where he quite clearly excpected me to get a wallet and give him money. When I started to just walk away, he proceeded to shout about other things and places I should put my burger in, along with some rather random things put in.

Then of course there is always the one and the same one guy with a sob story on my metro station, giving not a single crap about givng the story to the same people every week, just in the case some of the people there are not clever enough to see it's a lie. "Oh, I see, your mother died again? That is the 17th time just this year. Your life must be horrible, here, take my money." ...Right.

And the naturally there always is the one with a ciggarette in mouth, playing with a whole pack in hand, asking for money for food. Well, somehow you manage to be pretty fat, have smokes handy - hey, I'm sure you'll be fine, you don't need my help.

In closing, no, not having spare change anymore for anyone, ever.

It depends, I am not comfortable with people coming up to me to ask, idk why but its unnerving and I don't want to take my wallet out in front of them.

If its someone on a street corner that looks like they are in need then if I have a few bucks to spare I will give them some. Though I don't usually carry cash.

If someone comes up to me asking for food, then I will always give them something, because no one should ever have to go hungry.

Edit: I guess I kind of see it as that is their job, they are pan-handling and especially when they are sitting there in the worst weather (which here would be the middle of summer) then they are usually pretty desperate.

only if they ask for a specific amount of change, that I happen to have on me, will I give it to them. Though I carry no coins on me when i leave the house. However that guy whoasked me for four extra quarters ruined it for everyone for two years. Just look at their shoes. actual poor/homeless people have tattered shoes

That is exactly why I give food and not money.

I did quite often when I was younger, but I'm very hesitant about it now. I used to dole out a buck or two when asked, but over time and with the growing amount of panhandlers in my city, I stopped and stopped caring. I don't like to be a jerk, but I get angry when asked for spare change now by some of the "regulars" I meet, try to discourage the practice. That spare change is better suited to be given to a homeless shelter instead of drugs or alcohol most beggars would spend it on if given to them directly.

While I don't give away my change anymore, I do buy something for a beggar to eat when asked for food instead of money. It pains me to see someone go hungry, can't refuse them that at least.

I try to donate to shelters and places that help people like that but I hesitate when it's directly to a person.. Because I would never know if I'm actually helping them

Absolutely never.

It depends on how I feel about them, if they look really bad and really needing it, I won't hesitate if I have it. But no, I don't just give away money to anyone. I don't really bother to give them the third degree or have the time to ponder what they'll spend it on, and I only do it if I can spare it, and as I said it looks like they are legit in need, and there's a charity I sometimes give food and clothing to.

I rarely have change on me these days, but if it's someone I don't usually see asking for change, and if they're asking for a bite to eat or money for the bus, I'll give them a dollar or two.

Being from a wealthy family, I have donated/given to them from anything from cash to cooking at local homeless shelters and the church I go to.

A little kindness can go a long way whether they're homeless or not but if I see you're a regular I will dodge you.
