to be honest, Learn Japanese first, then Korean. Korean is filled with too many exceptions and what not to learn easily. Japanese is very straightforward in that aspect, and since learning Japanese is a lot more popular than learning Korean, many books and help-sites are available( like this forum).

I don't really get the use of are/ano and sore/sono at alll. my brain is just looking for ways to understand but it gets nowhere and i'm getting a headache for because of that.

a very weird concept for english speakers indeed!
Are/Ano is used when the subject matter who is far away from both you and the person you are speaking with.

Sore/sono is used when the subject matter is very close to the person you are speaking with, but is far away from you.

SUNWOOZ and minna-san:

Pretty much what I understand is that the following kono/sono/ano (This/That/Over there) are used when pointing at something NOUN -(kono neko/sono neko/ano neko)... sumimasen, I used a lot of cats, I'm trying to make it simple for myself so as not to confuse me.

Looks to me like it's a simple "pointing at something (as long as it is a NOUN)". correct?

While, kore/sore/are (This/That/Over there) are usually used in a sentence - (kore wa neko desu or this is a cat/ sore wa neko desu or that is a cat/ are wa neko desu or over there is a cat??? is it even correct )

In my understanding, "_ _re" was used instead of "_ _no" because of the "wa" before the noun (neko). And that if we are to point at something we can only use "_ _no" if automatically followed by a NOUN.

Forgive me if I confuse you and everybody but let me learn with you. Teach me please.
