I hate wearing hoods. Doesn't matter what else I'm wearing.

why?hood is handy when you don't have an scarf and want to protect your neck somehow for example.

They kind of drag down on me and make my head feel trapped. I don't feel like my neck needs protection and I almost always have a scarf with me except during reliably warm days.

I like hoods for winter because I dislike scarves and most hats. You can't forget it if it's attached to the rest of your clothing. I get hooded jackets. Some that I have are semi-formal made in fine fabrics that can go with formal blouses and skirts/trousers, another is a cardigan, cable knit style with a hood. Hoodies, sweatshirt style, I'll keep for being at home or shopping at weekends. My neck and ears need protecting in winter because the quick changes in temperature from being outside to coming inside can set off a painful reaction on my skin. It took a bit of pain before I learnt to protect those areas. I didn't always have this but the past few years my sensitive skin got extra sensitive.

What's the point? To look cool? For every person who thinks I look cool there's probably a hundred who think I look like a fool. I just don't see any practical reason to wear a suit jacket with a hood. I'd rather wear a coat if it's raining.

I have a jacket with a hood. A big hood. It's excellent. But my leather jackets are warmer.
