Post Reply Burial or Cremation?

I'll be dead, so it makes no difference to me. Whatever my family decides to do.

But what if you feel pain when your dead?

Seems unlikely. By the time they get around to embalming or cremation the brain and nervous system will long since have ceased to function. Meaning there is nothing to sense or interpret any sensation.

What if you didn't really die, but were presumed dead, and were to wake up in a box under a ton of dirt, unable to get out?

Wow, that's the stuff of nightmares! Would be terrifying waking up in the dark and enclosed like that. I think in the past they sometimes fitted bells on the surface attached to the coffin so if someone did wake up they could ring it...sounds a bit silly so might just be a myth.

I've never thought about this, will just leave it to whoever when I'm gone as I won't care about what decision they make.

I don't think there would be enough air left in their to let anyone gain consciousness but if not there's cremation.

That's the good point on cremation. You'd be well and truly dead if you're body is roasted to ashes and bone fragments. That's a guarantee to never have a chance of such a scenario happening.

Well after they take whatever useful organs and tissues they need from my corpse I'd guess cremation. Seems the least fussy way of going about disposing of what's left of my body. Though like my Dad and Sophie my ashes will be kept back at their family home in the Soya sub-prefecture of Hokkaido.

Though I suppose I should be honoured that they would be willing to house a non blood relative I am unsure about basically the Shinto Funeral I'll be receiving. Guess it'll be a cheap one since not a whole lot of people will be showing up.

I want to be cremated then put in a tin of instant coffee and sold in my local grocery store. I'm kidding but i would prefer cremation.
