Post Reply Creative Spirit In Church

I was just wondering what you guys thought about bringing more creativity and stuff to church. We already use music to get into that place with God so why not use everything else?
I mean I've been really inspired (by videos on YouTube) to ask my pastors to include more drama and stuff to church because God gave us all talents to use to bring more people to Him and to use them in a way that benefits everyone.

What do you think?

Sure, God is a creative God, so why not worship him in creative ways?

But the reason why churches don't overwhelm their services with performances and all is because you don't want to turn it into a entertainment center. Of course, to Christians it doesn't seem so, but performances 1) take up time and money = Less time for sermons, and some smaller churches can't afford it 2) To an outsider, it contradicts with their notion of a supposed 'religion'. 3) The most important thing is still the Word of God, which many conveniently put aside.

hmmm i agree with both of you! lol...I believe that there are times to worship God seriously like (Sunday services for example) but I also think that there should be times that Christians worship God in different ways like plays, drama, musical body worship, concerts, church camps and so on...but i don't agree with adding all of this onto Sunday services for the simple fact that people sometimes go to a certain church because it is more "fun" ~~~ ^_^ i luv being a Christian lol...

I don't understand. What use would fine arts be to the Church?

fine arts are not a contemporary, secular thing.
The Church, before secularism, used fine arts in EVERYTHING.
The arts are not something that people abuse, it is a gift, by God to express beliefs and worldview.
The fact that the arts are all but extinct in the church is a very sad fact. People have seen the arts as a secular thing for far too long and the incorporation of the arts back into the church is something that I have been wanting to do for three years now.
Art is something that aids in worship, and makes people think
Through art, more than any other way, we have been given the ability to bring people to Christianity. not by telling them what to believe, but by making them think. art is something that allows people to find themselves, to find God.
We are impacted HUGELY through art. It is something that really speaks to us on levels we sometimes dont understand. We see a painting and something in us just swells, or breaks, and our emotions break out of the walls we've built up in Life.
God gave us an imagination, and an ability, a gift. We are able to make art, not for a secular thing, but as a faith growing excersize. It is something that has a profound effect on not only the artist, but the people who see or hear the art. Music, just like painting and sculpting is an art. writing, just like music, is an art. We have so many different forms of art that need to be used in the church. And we dont use them. It is a sad thing because such an amazing gift should be used as often as breathing.
