It is short for Verve, which doesn't have any relation to Virtual Reality. In this case, it looks like VRV isn't an initialism, just a shortening of the word by removing the e's and should be pronounced the same.

As for device support, I wouldn't know anything about that.

Will any content be exclusive to VRV?
Yes. VRV will feature some content that is exclusive to our platform, for example Cartoon Hangover will be available exclusively on VRV. What content is given to VRV exclusively will be determined by each individual content provider.

.

Does this mean CR will launch some anime exclusively on VRV eventually with no way for the premium members here to have access without subscribing to VRV?

Crunchyroll's offering on VRV will be identical on both platforms. Other partners who don't have their own SVOD services yet, though, may have cool new content that will just be on VRV!

---

As for the questions about virtual reality, the name "VRV" doesn't have a relationship with virtual reality.

Thanks for the quick responses. I figured that VRV didn't have anything to do with virtual reality but the mere possibility made the question asking.

Still a little early I suppose. Maybe in a couple of years time Crunchyroll will get a VR app.

Anyway, best of luck with this new venture all the same.

eww i don't see any benefits out of this i do not like this and i do not look forward to this they talk all they want about it "not changing anything" but see little reason to believe it until it happens ive seen to many times a company roll out a new service and sweep the others under the rug to encourage that ones success

I’m kind of worried and skeptical of this news. First of all because of that last question in the FAQs. Yet another service which is region restricted and solely available for the people in the USA, yay! It’s said that Crunchyroll will remain a standalone service “perpetuity”, but how far can we really trust that. Does this also mean that the market focus will shift away even further from the worldwide audience?

Crunchyroll's regions and licensing policies regarding "outside of the US" will not be adversely affected by this at all. We will continue our efforts to bring more content to all regions on Crunchyroll.

Will this new platform have multi language support (like CR have)?

Given that it is initially available only in the US, that doesn't seem likely. The only other language that might be offered for a US-only service would be Spanish.

So given that this is US only, I would imagine that CR will continue to run as is through the website for Canada. I don't think you need to have a VRV account to purchase the memberships separately.

I can see issues with this! One I pay a membership fee to CR for anime content not a bundle of stuff I have little to no interest in funding!
So dose this mean my member fee could be watered down from acquiring new content of anime? As a member it concerns me that one due to becoming a bundled service that extra fees or content loss will happen for those shows that caused me to become one of the 800,000 members on this site! Also please tell me the sites not going to start asking you to "Log in with your cable provider!" I have enjoyed Crunchyroll so far due to the anime and unique access it provides to that medium. I would hate to see the site watered down due to fund sharing on getting content out side of anime or related fields.

One area I did have some interest in though was the really odd Japanese game shows but I would consider that separate from my current member ship.

I second this.

I'm also a bit confused. If you have a CR membership does that give you a VRV membership and vice versa? It sounds like if you get the bundle on VRV then you can also access CR but does that work the other way around? Or would it just be that you could go to CR through VRV and not have commercials there but any other content on VRV you would have commercials? So confusing.

Um... About the Xbox app. Considering that the next Xbox update gives it full access to the Windows 10 Store, could the VRV app be eventually available in other Windows devices (PC, tablets, phones)?

People are reading more into this than there really is.

VRV is just a "channel" that offers various streaming sites in one spot. From the sound of it, subscriptions will be offered based on what the subscriber wants, although I do suspect that some of the sites will be stuck on all subscriptions no matter what, the way everybody on cable gets to pay for ESPN whether you watch it or not.

Seeso is available as an addon for Amazon Prime for $99 a year. This is waaaay too much for old NBC sitcoms and SNL programs. They do have some original programming and Britcoms, so this could be worth it, if you can get a deal.

With the exception of CR, the rest of the field is anywhere from OK to ick.

I don't think the overlords of CR are spending a lot on these sites. I think this is just a way to get the sites more visibility. YT isn't enough I guess.

Or three or more. Some of us still remember Second.TV in 2013. You've polished and repackaged it nicely though.

Not my cup of tea, but good luck to you guys.

VRV is a separate company from Crunchyroll, but Crunchyroll will be available as a channel on VRV. The membership fee you pay for Crunchyroll goes to Crunchyroll, that's not changing ~
