From what I understand, Monster Hunter Generations, what is known as Monster Hunter X (pronounced Cross), in Japan, is being released to the world next month in July.

So I thought I'd see how much passion there was for this Monster Hunter, and if anyone knew anything about it.

I love the Moster Hunter series, especially 4U. As for Generations though, sadly I'm on the fence. With the lack of G-Rank it seems like the game won't have near as much content as 4U. If that's the case I'll be passing.

I am given to understand that they'll have a lot more quests than 4U, so with their focus on the attachment people have to weapons and armor, there will probably be plenty of content.

This will be a long shot, but does anybody have an extra download code they'd be willing to share for the demo? D: Folks in Europe can download the demo from the e-shop, but NA folks have to wait until June 30 or get a special email from Nintendo with two download codes for the demo. Sadly, I didn't get one (I never get the special Nintendo email codes... :/ )

If you do, please PM me. I will love you FOREVER.

EDIT: Apparently, the code for the demo is also available via a humble bundle, but I'm not paying $4 for a demo. Just a FYI for those of you who also missed out on the magical email.

lol $4 for just a demo? none of the other like 5-10 games interest you?

anyway, i never played a monster hunter game, but that's mostly because i didn't have the console it was on. i mean, i had a Wii, but online never interested me through the Wii so i passed. i am interested in this monster hunter game though as they are trying to expand their battle system and the way loot is used. i watched the treehouse live gameplay and it seems interesting. i'd just need people to teach me the ropes.

Reddit is pretty good for finding out what people think the ropes of the series are, but mostly it boils down to finding a weapon that works for you, while at the same time trying new things.
With, what, 14 weapon types to choose from, there's a lot of experimenting to do, though the camera may be your biggest enemy.

Nah. I don't do any PC gaming whatsoever and almost all of the other stuff is for Steam.

Anyway, yeah, MH is fantastic, but the learning curve is quite steep. Once you figure it out though, it is crazy addicting.

Played almost all MH games after MHFU. Passed through from broken hitboxes to not so bad hitboxes (still being BS with any Tigrex subespecie ).

Already played the demo of MHG. It was really great, the only problem I had with it was how long are Arte attack animations, but I guess you only need to get used to it.

Wish I could buy it right after release, but Steam flash sales made me broke.

The game has been out for three days now! Anybody else playing? I'd be interested in hearing your preferred weapon, style, and arts. Personally, I've been using a lot of longsword and hammer, both adept. I use guild style with hammer a bit more than adept, but they're both pretty great. My mains have always been GS, LS, and hammer. I've dabbled with HH and DS in the past, but the others are always my go-to weapons.

Haven't managed to get in a position to get it yet, but I'd probably end up going with dual blades or the like first to get a feel for the game. Never been a big fan of the great sword or hammer, but it will be interesting to find out how they go.

Dual blades are pretty nice, and some people can use them to spectacular effect. I'm not one of those people. Haha. All of the weapons have the potential to be amazing with enough time invested in them. When you do eventually get the game, you might want to try your hand at the GS and/or hammer again. The new hunter styles really change the standard gameplay a great deal so weapons that might not have worked for you before might be viable now. ^^

Watched some videos of Generations, and they were pretty exciting. Been working Charge Blade and Long Sword in 4U, and the difference is marked between the two games.

Still stick with my favorite weapon, charge blade. The aerial style is fun; riding monsters like crazy. I think they add another feature to charge blade when the monsters headbutt the charged shield, they got stunned; didn't see that in MH4U.
