Still stick with my favorite weapon, charge blade. The aerial style is fun; riding monsters like crazy. I think they add another feature to charge blade when the monsters headbutt the charged shield, they got stunned; didn't see that in MH4U.

From what I understand, that was related to Guard Points, or those tiny instances where you're doing an attack and have your shield in just the right place to guard against an attack by the monster. If you had your shield charged, it also did Impact/Elemental damage depending on your weapon.

Did see a video of a guy, Arrekkz?, who was knocking a Tetsucabra out with the charged shield in MHG, while he was talking about the basic differences between 4U and Generations. Won't be surprised if people start saying that CB is overpowered because you don't even have to be good to stunlock a monster or something.

Edit: Got the game, and I learned through the Training quests that I do not Adept. Charge Blade seems slower than it was in 4U, too.

I think it was just me, but I'd try the draw attack and miss the longnecks because they lumbered away while I was moving forward, and I guess it bothered me because they were big as houses. After some more time with CB, it doesn't feel so sluggish anymore.

Did find out something I didn't realize in 4U, and that's there's another step of sharpness below the orange/brown layer. Petrified weapons have such bad sharpness, and sometimes I couldn't sharpen it for one reason or another. Really encouraged me to get out of the 1★ village quests.

I took sometime to farm bnahabras to make armor that have sharpness skill. That is quite useful. I used that armor until I can farm garuga or Glavenus in Guild 2 missions for armor with fencing.

Anyway, I'm now at HR6. This might be slow, but I'm taking time to farm resources every time I level up.

Still like CB and aerial style. I don't have hard time to topple the monsters 2 times. I feel like that CB is quite tanky, see people sent back to base but I'm still stand ground.

Gathering resources is, I think, the right thing to do. I cannot think of any reason that wouldn't be what should be done.

I think as long as you manage to actually use the shield, and keep the shield charged, CB is probably as tanky as Lance, if not more so. Also, it has that healing hunter art, so you can burn up your phials to heal in an emergency by doing the shield charge. Definitely ending up as my preferred weapon again.

Capcom just announced today the release of Monster Hunter XX (Double Cross) on 3/18/2017. It's a G rank of X with new monsters and styles. Very exciting about it, but also depressing because it would take another year for it to be released in the US.

Anyways, still wait for more DLC on Generations, especially the Hyper Deviljho and Gold Rathalos.

I do like the brave style so far. Would like to see what they do with the sns with that.

Double Cross is nice. People have been whining about G-Rank since Generations released (and before). It is nice that they're adding even more Hunting Styles, even to Palicos, but I already don't use the Styles they have in Generations. Spent an hour just today with aerial HBG because I kept forgetting to switch off it.

Hunting Styles, and maybe Hunting Arts, should be linked to weapons. At the very least, Hunting Styles/Arts should be able to be changed outside the house, while you're already committed to a quest.

It's because a lot of international release has been mostly accustomed to g rank because we usually get those or so I'm told. I'm fine with no g rank but it's nice that it's there. I do agree thet should making changing styles and arts a little more intuitive. I forget I'm in a style I don't like sometimes.

Played first few missions

Greatsword range feels nerfed, the game didn't really feel like a new game for me so I just lost interest
