Me and Nala constantly joke around.

She tried to make me look creepy on many occasions for example!

Never invent AI in the first place. Any robot that harms a human instantly shorts and becomes scrap.

A coworker told me today that the general public's conception of AI and consciousness are largely guided by bad science fiction.

That said, why bother with a generalized AI? All the AI of today are specialized to the point where they just do one thing well and that's pretty much it, and would be crap at everything else.

Keep doing that. Making lots of extremely useful AI that are practically useless except doing exactly what they're designed for.

Build an opposing army of giant mutant cyborg frogs. What could possibly go wrong?

Yeah someone is going to go for a jack of all trades AI eventually even if specializing is better (which it is)

you can't expect us to not try to go for that if it's within our reach we will try it no matter how stupid.

A couple things to keep in mind:

1) Asimov's laws might not be viable to completely enforce
2) Giving in is not an option
3) General AIs might not think the way nuerotypical humans or even other types of humans

My preferred method:

What are we the institute

Yes, bow before my iron rule!

Man portable EMP weapons. For all your robot uprisings, cyborg invasions, sentient AI revolutions, nanobot swarms, and Skynet.

Kill machines, leaves people standing.

When you have ultra high intelligent robots, I'm pretty sure they will invent something that will be able to shield them from EMP.

Nice try though.

don't be greedy.

hire people to do jobs and pay them well.

depend less on high tech.

do more things to old fashion way, like keep your landline, use non computerized machines. and learn to be patient instead of having to have everything= NOW!

I'll welcome & bow down to our new machine overlords, they might have enough about them to sort everything out. If they will gain inteligence as fast as predicted they will go from village idiot to better than Einstine in a few years.
