Post Reply Do people like to get scared?
Posted 6/16/16 , edited 6/16/16

A family member of mine opens the door to the house in the middle of the night. While I am using headphones and playing a video game. I got up from my chair and run to the door to beat the shit of the person entering. When I was about to hit them in a martial art stance, I stop after realizing they were not an intruder. I nearly die from heart attack.
The other time was when my dad enters the house without knocking in the early hours of the morning. I rush the door with a knife in hand. Seriously what with people not knocking. I am like fuck you, dad. When to sleep again after being awoken by human stupidity.

People like to be scared so much that there is an entire industry that seems to thrive on making us feel like we're constantly living right on the edge of some devastating global catastrophe. In case you're still scratching your head, I'm talking about the news industry.

It depends on the kind of fear. I do like some kinds of fear.

Fear in the sense of being shocked or surprised is fleeting and cheap. It gets your heart pumping and your adrenaline going, but it fades so quickly. Fear in the sense of anxiety about your finances, education, social status, or relationships? That stuff is just depressing. There is no good feeling that comes from it at all.

I like to be unsettled. Like walking alone on a dark foggy night in an unfamiliar area. It's like the setting from a horror story. I LOVE a good horror story. - one that sticks with you and changes the way you think about things for a long time.

why would horror movies exist if they didn't? Now, nobody wants to feel scared when they could actually be in a dangerous position.

it is best when they have a realistic plot. That supernatural stuff doesn't really scare me. Now, a serial killer hunting you down is scary because it is more realistic and you never know if it will happen to you.

Yes, I like getting scared ... but I also worry that I might piss my pants; that would be totally embarrassing.

I love it and also hate it. It makes me feel alive. I don't like it when it makes me feel too paranoid though.
