I was thinking about adding some additional awards, and one in particular that I would like is Best Animal Character seeing that this season had a number of great ones in Natsu, Puck, Timothy (though technically a robot, he comes across as being an animal), and the cats in Flying Witch and High School Fleet, among others. Given that the character awards select one guy and one girl that I think that the animals deserve an award of their own.

^ I second that suggestion.

I'd suggest adding ''Worst of Spring 2016'', but then I figure OP probably avoided including it to prevent a flame war.

StriderShinryu wrote:

Yeah, that is probably why they avoided it, but it would still be nice. Disappointment isn't always the same as just plain bad.

Well there is something I will ask everyone at the end of the awards which has to do with categories and what not, so look forward to that but for now (and I don't mind)

Do you guys want me to add Worst of Spring 2016?

It's still pretty early and everyone can still edit in their votes and of course I will update the templates

I don't mind. It might even be good to have it since it'll help differentiate between shows that people went into with certain expectations and were disappointed (Big Order) and shows that were just overall bad that didn't get anyone's hopes up (i.e. Hundred).

My problem this season was that there was a lot of good OPs and endings. As for other choices... I wish I had access to Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress but since I live in Can'tada Amazon Prime does not offer video (and 2 days free shipping it actually a pretty worthless service on it's own). Flying Witch wins Best cast and best Slice of life soo far in adavance of every other shows it's not even funny. Hundred and And you thought there is Never a girl online? won simply by a coin toss since there where multiple shows that where as good for those categories. (and as bad as the story of Hundred is, it's not a bad harem show).Kiznaiver was boring I dropped it at episode 4 because I could not take it anymore. Big Order was... interesting but bland but if we did not have Hight School fleet, Assassination Classroom and Asterisk Wars this season it would have won the animation award for me(was the only thing it had going for it). For best cast, Flying witch won by dice roll since Bungou Stray Dogs and Haifuri also had strong casts (Kiznaiver might have a good cast but as I said, I could not take it anymore but I admit the cast was good up to episode 3).

While the Artwork is not great, Cerberus is a decent (if predictable) fantasy anime. It is also the only one I did watch to the end this season since Netoge does not count as fantasy(the plot is not related to the game itself) and Flying witch while great does tone it's fictional elements down a lot.

While I enjoyed Bakuon! it was not able to be anything special. Compared to the wind of fresh air that was Flying witch or the intertaining story of Haifury it could not really compete).

Yeah, Big Order was a pretty Big Disappointment (I finally dropped that one and I really didn't want to. I love the idea but the way they're presenting that idea is just so poorly done) but I was actually even more disappointed by Kiznaiver. I have been racking my brain to try and understand why everyone likes it so much. Maybe I'll try watching all of it. Does it get better? I've only seen the first 6 episodes but the characters all act in such illogical ways while being abused and tortured that it just really turns me off. Not to mention the whole "the ends justify the means" logic the show just runs with. I also have a hard time believing that linking people's pain together would create harmony or peace and believe it would do just the opposite in real life. People would be killing each other if they had to share their pain, if for no other reason than to get rid of other people so they don't have to feel their pain and then you have the whole torture is so funny because look we're making jokes and the characters are laughing and acting silly. It's like a sleight of hand to try and keep your mind off the fact that they're actually being tortured and abused against their will. The animations nice though but it just feels like one big attempt to illicit false emotions to tug at one's purse strings. Then again I felt the same way about Angel Beats (which is a far worse offender in my book) and people love that one too so maybe it's just me? Very surprised that people seem to be enjoying it so much but that's good. I'm glad some of us are. That's the great thing about all art. It's very subjective and nobody's opinions are ever wrong. If someone else thinks it's the best anime of all time then they're right. It is the best for them. :D

The idea about adding a category for best animal or pet is awesome. I would love to see that one. I don't know who I'd vote for. It's a toss up right now between Puck and the cat from High School Fleet. Such a hard decision.

It sounds nice but I don't think it's necessary. Most people drop a show when they don't like it or they just don't start watching it in the first place when it doesn't sound interesting. If you dropped it after a few episodes it's more suitable for "Biggest Disappointement" anyway because you had to expect at least something from it to start watching it and voting for something you didn't watch seems pointless.
You have to watch the whole season to be able to tell if it was bad or not but most people will vote for something they dropped.

But I'm all for "Best Pet" . "Best Villain" would be great too. There are enough of them in the anime world .

This one.
Would be a shame not to have that category with Hakumen no Mono this season.

If you're talking about the characters feeling false emotions, this is actually brought up in a later episode.

Best villain also sounds goods. Especially since there's a certain villain this season generating a negative reaction so huge that it's turning a lot of people away from Kabaneri.

I'm going to say no for Spring 2016. First, a bunch of people already have their entries in or spaces reserved. The results wouldn't be the best if you just drop a new category in now. Second, and this is pretty much just a selfish perspective, but my Worst and Most Disappointing for this season would have been the same anyway. (I'm sure there were series just straight up worse than Lost Village but I stopped watching them 2 episodes in).

I don't mind. I don't think it's synonymous with biggest disappointment. You can also add other categories if you like anybody's suggestions. I'm also fine with waiting for next season to add more categories if others are not up for it this season.

For me, Big Order was not a disapointment since I was expecting the show to be that bad and the only reason I kept it was to see the trainwrek go. I was not surprised by the plotwist(spoiled in the OP if your aware enougth). Kiznaiver on the other hand is a big disapointment becuase I was not expecting it to be as boring and anoying as it was. The "pleasure through pain" character was really anoying . Enought for me to drop the show soon after he appeared/\.

Hmmm. Okay so I won't make any changes to thus season but I will have a little questionairre of sorts after the awards to involve you guys more. Basically what categories would you like to see and which ones should be taken out. Also some other related stuff to keep the community a part of these awards even though I am the host I'd like to put your ideas into place as well

Yes, yes, I know that I put the same two for Biggest Surprise and Best of, which means technically only the first one is allowed for each. Both Anne Happy and Netoge were equally surprising for me and I hold them at the same height on their respective pedestals, so I put them together, as while it only counts for the first one, they're both deserve my acknowledgement, haha. I did put the more surprising one first, but it was more surprising by a very very slim margin. Overall, for anything where Netoge or Anne Happy won, it was a struggle for me to choose, as both pretty much do the exact same thing for me in all regards, just in different ways. Definitely the top two single-cour shows this season.

Its tough in the battlefield this Season Swagger

I have her, Nico, and Futaba for the top spots in that category. It can still change, but it has been rough. Will most def write about about her VA and thoughts on the season near the bottom. Futaba and crew will most def be mentioned.

The slice of life category is brutal too since not all of them (Sansha Sanyou, Flying Witch, Anne Happy) can be represented at all. Flying Witch can go into different categories due to the nature of it. Then when you go to comedies, you have: Sansha Sanyou, Anne Happy, and Tanaka-kun. Some shows even if they are great are going to be screwed sadly
