And? Canada should have told him to dress differently. You people allow that girl to get on with the prime minister. Your leader allow that travesty.

Yeah he did allow that. He also got his ass kicked last election. He's not our leader anymore.

He may not be your prime minister, but he is checking out Beiber's toaster rack, so I think it's a loss for everyone, especially John Oliver.

I feel as though we got off topic.

It seems so, yes.
The topic was... John Oliver destroying the European Union and bringing to light their endless sins and crimes against humanity, IE Josephine Beiber?

Sheesh... you're really making a mountain out of a molehill here. The trend for international comments to get involved in the Brexit debate is quickly becoming a common sight on the internet, as this thread amply illustrates. I used John Oliver's video as touchstone, to keep things on topic, since this whole thread is meant to be about the video anyway.

If you're going to play ipse dixit on a whole country because you read a handful of Youtube comments then I'm going to call you out on it. ;p

You haven't called anybody out; you've just missed the point completely. As I've already said, the video is the OP of this thread; it makes sense to talk about video in the context of the wider Brexit debate. Your belief that it's wrong to even mention that people don't like John Oliver's video is downright bizarre. The fact that the video has been negatively received, as John Oliver is condescending and offensive to British voters, is most certainly an important point worth mentioning.

If I were British I'd vote out. The European Union makes corruption and democratic deficit here in the US look likes child's play. You have things such as unelected Presidents, special commissions made up of more unelected people who wield just as much power as MPs, Democratic governments overthrown by the IMF (Italy and Greece) and if you are from a rich country you are forced to fund everyone else's welfare.

In order for me to change my mind, the European Union would have to become more democratic and less centralized, but as someone outside the union I am glad that the people of the United Kingdom can vote on what the best path forward is.

Speaking of completely missing the point. That was not my argument at all. I was taking issue with you presenting your opinion as fact. Something that I now recall is really a running theme when trying to discuss anything with you. The only small mercy here is that John didn't mention Phantasy Star Online. -.-

It's a straightforward observation to note that John Oliver's video has made a lot of people angry. He's really missed the mark this time, creating a video so out of touch with British politics that it’s going to actually push people towards the leave camp. In the end John Oliver would have been better off staying out of the Brexit debate since his audience is in America not the UK. Yet now, thanks to his incompetent efforts, John Oliver has greatly harmed the pro-remain campaign he desired to defend.

Which is, again, your opinion. Which is, again, based on reading Youtube comments. Which is, again, a pisspoor way of gauging anything of substance. Let alone, again, gauging the political attitude of an entire country.

And he can't simultaneously "greatly harm" UK politics and not have an audience in the UK. Nevermind that the polls continue to show a statistical dead heat after his show aired despite this "great harm" you speak of.

This isn't about the whole UK, just about how one badly made video from John Oliver is having a negative impact, in the context of the wide Brexit debate. Suffice to say, John Oliver had every intention of his video being seen by British voters, as he disabled the region restrictions which normally prevent British IP addresses from assessing his YouTube channel. However, John Oliver is so disconnected from UK politics that he has no idea how to make an honest appeal to British voters. The best that John Oliver can do is mock the British people for his American audiences (it's a routine he's been doing for years), so that even when he tries to reach out to the UK he's insulting them at the same time.

This is the stupidest argument I've heard on this website in quite a while.
