I hear they're kind of nice cages. All sorts of free time to get into mischief, free meals every day, all utilities paid. Opportunities to make new friends.

Nothing like the hard labor that used to be done. Building roads, clearing land, digging ditches.

The link only says he's "facing" 3 years of jail not he was "sentenced to".

"Facing up to", yes. Sentencing is on the 29th, too. Yet we may never know if, or how much, of that possible jail time he will receive. So it seems perfectly permissible, especially since none of us are involved in any way, to talk about it in the extreme case.

Even in US laws, this can blur the line of free and hate speeches.

Repeated harassment including threat of rape? That can certainly get you arrested in the US and other countries as well. Here people get slapped with restraining orders first though, and only get arrested for violating those.

I'm not sure it was a rape threat with that conditional there. I know it's far off but it's like saying "I'd kill you if you say anything bad about kirito! He's my favorite character!!!"

And the other comments weren't even directed AT the girl. They were all about women in general and just really sexist. Not really sure that's harassment.

Yeah, this is a few steps beyond "chauvinism" and unlike CR its directed at an individual. Once you begin targeting an individual and don't stop after you're asked too then you've crossed into legal problem territory.

I don't think the conditional matters much here. Its not like this guy was presenting himself in any sort of joking context. From his conduct you don't know if he's a troll or legitimately some seriously dangerous asshole who knows your name and what you look like. Especially given how shit of this nature tends to escalate. I also don't think you can make much of an argument that this isn't being directed anywhere. Its pretty obvious it.

There's a difference between making fucked up sexist comments to yourself and your buddies and repeatedly making fucked up sexist comments specifically at a bunch of women you're talking too. So yeah, this does fall under harassment. Legally speaking.

Look at it this way: If this behaviour had been face to face this guy would have left the scene in handcuffs without question. So if the medium of delivery is the only difference its not much of a defense. This wasn't occurring on an anonymous web forum where the trolls could slink in and slink out. This was on Facebook where everyone's names and identities were on display.

Which, on a side note, brilliant of this guy to do all this shit under his real name on Facebook. >.>

This is a few steps past cat calling. He's not yelling an unwanted comment at a random girl passing by. This was directed at a specific girl who did not know him but for whom he was essentially passing out a picture of while attacking her reputation. Then when he came across her, he proceeded to attack her. When people came to her defense, he fought with all of them as well. When someone told him to stop before they called the cops he essentially dared them to do it. And they did.

You would definitely leave the place in handcuffs. Though probably not before someone laid you out on your ass. -.-

I remembered reading a story about this girl who kill herself because of cyber bullying.. Because the guy on internet broke up with her and told her go kill yourself.. and I think from what I read it turned out to be her classmate female who happen to pick on her at school all of the time.. So she pretend to be boy and she also play the role as a online bully (other person).. This from memory maybe I'm wrong it could be her classmate enemy that got her online boyfriend to break up with her and told her to kill yourself.

Anyway, about few years later they finally got this in court.. I don't think the Bully get much punishment.. Its more of a warning.. And they're taking it seriously and start doing Anti-Cyber Bullying.

This surprised me because I figured its (internet) no place for the weak and there nothing law enforcement can do about it, because its not like person can hurt you irl due to privately..

I'm just amaze how harsh internet can be and was surprised anyone are capable of doing that.. There a saying what doesn't kill you make you stronger.

But it is sad that people let it get to them.. and they kill themself over it! Am trying to figured out what Bully thinking.. So they don't see Human being on other side of computer... but just wall of text?

What even worse is those who you know irl and actually friend with are nothing like the one on internet.. Its like they got other personally! XD

Australia is seriosuly going down the shit hole.
We used to be known for being a very relaxed and easy going people , whilst we were known for being friendly we always have also been pretty tough as far as we have always had a real good sense of humor. So much so that we have been considered racist all across the world because people couldn't understand our humor and lack of being offended or taking jokes seriously.
Like the way things used to be here, men were men, blokey, and our sense of humour now would just be considered racist or sexist or etc now.
Unfortunately we're just follwing suit and turning out like American in many ways and like England and etc in others.
In some cases exceeding.
It's all about political corectness. It is ruining our once great country.
As it is with the entire western world.

The education syetem, political correctness, the lefties, feminazis, do gooders, the main stream media is turning everyone into pussies and spreading the victim mentality and you are seeing people having to make public appoligies for making a joke or expressing an opinion.
People are being convicted and labled criminals for doing nothing wrong.
It's somehow become racist to care about your own country and own way of life and culture.
I fear our great game of AFL is in danger.
The violence against women campaign is being pushed so hard that we recently had a situation where a man made a joke about drowning a women (it was banter and a joke on the radio, talking famous people here, they were doing a charity event that involved sliding into ice water) and this women got offended and the dude had to make his expalnation, then public appoligy, he is the president of a football club and now their sponser is considering withdrawing and etc etc and people acting like it was a for real murder plot and threat and saying it encouraged violence against women.
The shit is a joke.
