A bit of a disclaimer first: I didn't back this game on Kickstarter, nor am I a hardcore MegaMan fan. The game had a place in the back of my mind which popped up every now and again, and I liked the colors. That's about it.

With that out of the way.....

Well a quick look at the MN9 steam page will show you right away that this game is not exactly meeting expectations set by MegaMan fans and the devs, but is it truly as bad as they say it is? I'm keeping in mind that it may just be a rocky launch as many games seem to have nowadays.

My questions to you are:

Did you back it on Kickstarter?

If yes, are you satisfied with your pledge, or are you regretting it?

Are you enjoying the game?

Is this the true spiritual successor to MegaMan that you were hoping for?

What did you think of the "Anime fan on prom night" thing?

Are you looking forward to the movie/tv show? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UmY3jd0z8ho

Should I even begin to consider buying this?

What makes the game good/bad?

I don't mind spoilers, but remember to tag them for everyone else.

Thank you. :)

I'd say watch someone else play through it. I didn't Kickstart it, know about the movie, or anything. I think that people saying it's the 'spiritual successor to Mega Man' is probably screwing up their expectations and causing them to not experience the game outside of their preconceptions. The reviews read like that.

No. Poor level design, unimaginative bosses that recycle movesets a lot, powerups that aren't fun to use, poorly placed mid-level checpoints, VERY subpar graphics, worse voice acting and one of the worst game scripts in recent memory, performance issues and many other problems.

If you're really curious then wait for a very generous discount

Based on the drama and launch issues I've been reading since yesterday, I'd say hold off for now and wait for a sale to those who are interested. That's what I'll do if I ever bother with it.

After all the issues that have befallen this since the beginning, I really wasn't expecting wonders. Having watched matey on Gamexplain getting quite annoyed during his playthrough I reckon this'll be staying sealed.

I was excited when I first heard about it and planned on getting the Wii U version when it was announced to be released on that platform. But that felt like ages ago and forgot about the game completely until I started reading reviews about it. Now I just don't care. Looking forward to Yooka-Laylee now to fill that nostalgia bug.
