Yup.If you're meant to die then, then just die. Even if you clone yourself, you'll be just like the living dead.

i think immortality meant not dying at all ... dying and living again doesnt really consider
and i dont think one need another life if he/she had a wonderful life b4 ... living forever doesnt bring happiness =x

Sorta, if you couldn't remember your past life, it shouldn't count.

well that is not immortality, its just that you are a clone, and your real body had died. you only got your memories, but that is already different! you are not you anymore, just a shadow of your old self!!

well, there are a lot of different beliefs about the human soul. i have, since i was young, believed that we have a soul. and i have always thought of the soul as immaterial. something that we leave behind after death and that it exists even without a body and a mind.

so i don't think transferring my memories to my clone is a solution for immortality. if science proves otherwise, then maybe the human soul really doesn't exist.

Its not immortality because essentially you're still dying, you're just switching bodies and if you are unable to switch bodies at the time you'd die and stay dead. However being immortal nothing can kill you and you don't have to depend on cloning yourself and transferring your memories.

This reminds me of Ghost In The Shell.

A lot of people there have cyber brains, so when wired up they can transfer memories. But the with the transfer of memories, the self becomes less evident. So what makes you the one you are, what was originally you, and are you still that?

Being human means adapting, changing, evolving. One could look upon this, *cloning* as a means of adapting/evolving.

Only two issues I see with this method is:

- Living longer than dear ones
- Having problems with one's self

I would do it, there are so many things to experience, and I have already lived longer than two dear ones, and I have a issue with understanding what it is that makes the self I am

That's not immortality. Immortality is when one single body lives forever, not one single mind. It doesn't seem that bad though.

I would say this is immortality of the soul. Some philosophers, such as Socrates, believed that there is a life after this one and that people shouldn't be afraid of death because only then do people gain true knowledge. Our bodies are distracting us from gaining true knowledge because true knowlege is much more than what we get from our senses. So although our body deteriorates, our soul (or mind) still lives on.

This might disrupt balance in life.It might cause overpopulation as well, like, for example the current world has 6 billion people, they never die and keep reproducing.I think if this happens sooner or later there is no more space, food, water left in the world, just billions or trillions of people crowded over one small planet.
