What would you say or do if your 10 year old ask you about sex?

Provide a basic overview of human sexuality, safe sexual practices, anatomy and physiology, and all the other things they'll need to know. They're ten, and that's old enough to know those sort of things.

Professionally explain, and prepare to introduce the child to documentaries.

Personally, I never needed "the talk." All thanks to books, science channels, and shameless animals.

Tell them? That's old enough.
Kids these days mock 13 year olds for being virgins.

"Don't worry about it kid, you won't need to know about that anytime soon." "I should know."

You really need to stop trying to kill yourself.

Are you telling me to stop "trying" and just succeed already? How horrible of you.

Well... you can only try again so many times before you succeed.

Explain to the lil one that it's something that only adults do, and that if anyone ever tries to get them to do it, that you let an adult know right away, especially if its another adult.

Then let the school know that the question has been asked so that they know that they could possibly be teaching sex-ed a little sooner to help deal with the issue, as kids usually start asking this question the same time as all their peers. Not always, but because of how their cliques work, usually it is the case I figure. For me growing up, the question was asked around age 9. Only was asked because others in class were making a big deal out of it. Sex ed class followed up not too long afterwards when we hit 11.

Others here suggest getting a little more in depth, and if that's what they figure they should do, then by all means do. I might get more in depth on certain things to look out for to avoid bad encounters with bad people, and explain that its perfectly natural to do when you are older but not when you are younger. Etc. etc.

Basically I would try to keep it PG as much as possible. Someone else here mentioned documentaries, I second that; but only tamer ones. There are many years ahead for them to learn other aspects as they age. We don't need to overwhelm them with the info. Only inform them of the need to know basics so that they don't get into trouble.

Tell them what gay is and suggest them so Yaoi to read and tell them stop lending mom the computer (She ends up stepping on it...)

^EDIT: I rrad the topic wrong... I thought it was about telling yourself about same sex...

I mean they already know what it is, I wouldn't need to explain

I'd give him/her the "special hug" speech and inform both of them that if a guy tries giving either of them a "special hug" before they turn 18 the appropriate answer is a hard knee to the junk.

That's what poorly illustrated books are for. There's a gazillion children books about sex out there and there's a reason for that lol.

Honestly the question is irrelevant for me. This is just reason #332,491 why I haven't had any children and refuse to have any. I know my limits.

Still, it's gotta suck for all you parents who have to have the talk.

I don't know how you people do it. It would even be worse with a girl I think. How do you explain to your little girl that most guys are pigs? That even some of the good one's out there are nothing but horn dogs? I would go insane and would have to put her in a indestructible hamster ball for her whole life.

You think girls are saint aren't ya?

No, I think that good parents, mom's and dad's are worthy of my admiration though.

remember the son as well or he might get in trouble with those girls as well that can be equally or more horny then what a guy could ever be.

I found out how sex really works when I was 10 and I'm pretty sure the innocence just left me lol. I'd just tell them they'll learn it when they grow up.

Give them an ice cream and "shoo" them off.

"It's what mommy and daddy did to have you and one day, when you're old enough to want to have your own baby, you'll do it too." Then answer any more questions they have and explain the concept of sexual responsibility.
