Is there any plans to eventually bring Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni to the list? The only version available is Region 2, but i'm in the UK

That is a Sentai license, and as of yet, they haven't even placed it on The Anime Network website, only Hulu.

Given CR's announced partnership with Funimation, I also wouldn't expect to be seeing much activity in Sentai licensing titles to CR.

So this is their way of protesting over the CR AND FUNI deal?

I would hesitate to say "absolutely not", as while this happened around 2.5 months ago, CR and Funimation may have very well been in preliminary discussions at that point. While they no doubt kept those talks under wraps, it isn't impossible Sentai got wind of them.

On the other hand, if you had been working with a company and got wind of them considering making a deal with your biggest competitor, which would be the better business move: Attempting to create a tighter relationship with them and discouraging such a move, or make a move that would give them all the more reason to proceed with it?

I also got the impression well before those titles were pulled that the relationship between Sentai and CR was cooling, as evidenced by such things as TAN being given exclusive simulcasts again for some shows, and a couple of seasons where Hulu was given an exclusive on a Sentai title.

Can't sentai ask or be include in the deal? I will hate to seen them suffer because of this. I like their dubs.

The problem is that there are elements of the deal that wouldn't work with another party added.

Sure, Sentai could put all the subtitled version of their titles on CR, but aside from the income generated from that, what would they get in return? Funimation will already be getting the rights to do broadcast dubs of many simulcasts, and handle home video releases. CR couldn't give any of that to Sentai without either taking it away from Funimation (effectively breaking the agreement), or offering Sentai only those titles Funimation wasn't interested in.

I like dubs, but as someone that primarily streams and rarely buys media, Sentai hasn't been doing much for me lately. At one time, one could count on their dubs appearing on The Anime Network website. For an all too brief time, they were even posting dubs before they came out on home video. Then, things took a change for the worst, dubs began to dry up (I believe the last 2 they posted were in March), and now even new releases of subtitled programs seem to be drying up. (As an example, When They Cry is on Hulu, but not TAN). Couple this with more titles seeming to be changing to subscriber only on TAN and Hulu cutting back the titles they will accept, Sentai seems to be receding toward a "Want it? Buy it on home video." stance. Given the number of times they seemed to have changed their strategy regarding online streaming, however, there is hope they'll change it again (and yield a more positive outcome).

As it stands right now, however, I'm not going to shed any tears if this deal results in Sentai getting shut out of more titles in favor of Funimation and CR, as the latter two are catering more to my desires than the former.

What about shows like My Teen Romantic Comedy Snafu where only season 1 is missing? Was that discussed?

Thanks!

While Funimation now holds the license for it, they don't currently offer it for streaming.

Did something change with Yugioh? The original series is no longer listed on PS4 app, and when I look at it in browser it says it is unavailable in my region because of licensing restrictions

I’m missing any series on the PS4 app that comes after the letter “U”. What has happened to those titles.

Apparently they didn't ever expect (or plan) to have more than 999 titles... You'll have to seek the others out in a browser and add to your queue from there if you want to watch them (I think that should work...) until, if ever, they decide to fix their apps.

All apps need to have their alpha lists broken down by letter (or numbers, or symbols); it's just too much of a pain to go through the whole list.
