Some of the best times I have had were at comic cons and anime cons. It's been a while since I've went to one though and am hoping to go to another one soon. I'd love to hear about others experiences at either type of convention whether bad or good. The more interesting, the better!

they are great places to meet new people that have interests like you, the events are pretty fun and you can find cool merch there as well.

It defiantly is! I've met many cool people from conventions. I reunited with an old friend at one of my last conventions.

I've been to a bunch but I only really have fun when I'm working a booth. If I'm just there as a regular attendee I get bored really easily and end up in the hotel room the whole weekend.

I went to a smaller convention, Animaritime in Eastern Canada and a larger one in the west, Animethon.

I would definitely suggest cosplaying, especially if you are a shy person. In many of the smaller ones, I can't speak for large ones like Comic con or Anime North, but the group finding activities are lacking. If you are in cosplay you can seek out people from the same series and mingle very easily.

Around here in the East of Canada, homestuck cosplayers have caused quite a scene, someone got hit in the head and there was hotel vandalism.

Most 'dances' i've been to at cons are like lame middle school ones, except it's packed full of kids while you're an adult. The one exception to this are masquerade balls, I went to one at Animethon and it was a blast, you can try out ballroom dances and dress up nicely.

Also vendor rooms are prime thievery, they are chop-full of bootleg figures and products.

I went to a Comic con in Boston years ago. Lots of people in spandex.. quite a few shouldn't have been.

My poor liver.. Much whiskey was consumed.

To be honest it felt like I was on an alien planet. The whole trip was quite bizarre.

I've been going to anime and video conventions for about 14 or 15 years (every year) now i think?
It started out a small little thing held at a university and probably only a couple hundered people would go.
It's grown pretty huge and gets advertised on radio and tv now and moved to a bigger and better location/venue. Over 10 000 people go over the weekend now. And they have some celebrity guest now to.
Not many big names ones like comic con or anything but still it yhas come a long way. I met Cherami Leigh and got her to sign some Asuna figurines (the boxes) and got a photo take with her, put my arm around her (lol).

It's pretty cool. Lots of people, lots of girls, good mixture of age range and different types of people, lots of cosplay, events and competitions and tournaments , anime on the big screen, a maid cafe, merchandise, etc.

I like to go to the pub across the road to break it up and have some beers and have a stone grilled steak.

phoenix comicon has been awesome. lots of stuff to do. i mostly go to take photos. i like to cosplay as something low key, last year i went in the school uniform from blood c. the people are freindly and nice. the after party this year was fun, even tho i was solo. its was nice to be able to cut in to a strangers conversaition about anime and it not be weird. its was a 21 and over part. anime speed dating was fun.
