Everyone has depression these days, despite the world being a better place than it ever was.
I guess this is what happens when things become too easy for people. |

You catch it from other people and it's different for everyone? |

People just need to sit back and listen to this:

Pretty much spot on. There are more depressed people now than it has been in a very long time. While a lot of people have an explanation to why they are depressed, there are also people who have no clu to why they are depressed, they just are. I think we all need to toughten up a bit. Life is harsh sometimes but that is just more reason to keep on trying the hardest. I accept that people can't be happy all the time but seing so many people depressd makes even me depressed. |
They told me reality ain't pretty, neither am I. Does that make me real?

It's just a metaphor, silly. You don't catch depression from other people and it's not like that you will recover from it just with a couple of days of rest (it's different from the "blues," which disappears quickly). What I mean by it is that depression is the one of the most common (if not the most common) psychological disorders that a psychologist/psychiatrist has to treat. |

Meh. I've been depressed off and on, admittedly more depressed than not, ever since I was 6. It's just a hard thing to get rid of and it is easier to talk about these days with people. It wasn't all that long ago that depressed people were basically expected to keep quiet about it so that they didn't make family members and friends look bad.

It very likely probably does, which is why both stances can be said to be correct. Really, I'm more concerned with "depression" becoming a catchall term for almost unrelated causes. It has become really easy, I think, for people to claim The Depression for why they aren't able to do anything. |

Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide MrAnimeSK wrote: I dont think everyone seems depressed but everyone seems to be in a struggle, in one form or another. And i think alot of people want more than what they have or are just not overly happy with what they have got. Most people seem to be in some sort of financial struggle or have some form of relationship troubles or addictions, debts, a shitty job they're unhappy with, health problems or just dont really know what they want in life perhaps? At my ages now, (35) life at times seems depressing because its at a point of life where you are no longer young but not really yet old, or middle aged even and life can seem kind of depressing or challanging, meaningless, boring, a constant struggle. Life is not all bad, not by a long shot but sometimes you realise that all life is working and paying bills and taxes until you die/modern day slavery. I guess it seems the only meaning or point to life is to find love, have a kids and pay off a house. But that's not for everyone and many i believe do it out of obligation or expectation or social stature? Plus life goes fast and it's sometimes to not miss the good times when you were younger and more free and life was so much more fun. I can see why some people turn to religion, for some sort of belonging and meaning and purpose in life i guess? Even if it is false hope. But really i dont think most people are depressed , just in the struggle. I've always thought there's enough good and fun things in life to make it good but i do experience some depression. And alot of people that i know do also. But i think everyone gets depressed sometimes. Sometimes just hearing my alarm go off in the moring is enough to depress me. Got to be resiliant!.. Well, this isn't entirely what I'm talking about, I mean to me it seems like everyone in depressed, because it seems like everyone in my social circle is depressed. You know, like young adults and teenagers? |
