I'm directionally challenged. I'm constantly getting lost.

In unfamiliar places, yeah.
Philosophically, yeah but not as much.

Twice in unfamiliar cities.

Freaked me out when I couldn't remember the hostel name I was staying at.

Never by accident. I've gotten lost on purpose, as in walking through the mountains/woods in whatever direction I damn well please until I feel like heading back, then relying on my navigational and orienteering skills to find my way back.

But I think it's damn near impossible for me to get lost on accident, at least for more than 2 minutes or so. I have an eidetic memory when it comes to geographic landmarks, and spatial reasoning has been one of my highest-scoring categories on the last few IQ tests I've taken - which is saying something since my general IQ is ballpark 130-145, at least. This has definitely helped my job as a delivery driver - I can easily locate places I need to go to by memorizing them in relation to places I've been - and once I go someplace I always remember the route back. I swear I must have been a homing pigeon in a previous life...

On a hike to San Jacinto peak last December, I became a bit disoriented on the trail due to all the snow. I ended up going off trail for roughly over a mile until I realized how far off I actually was. Thankfully because of all the snow, it was easy to retrace my steps and find my way back. I made it to the peak without incident, but due to lost time having gone the wrong way, I didn't make it back to car until much later than I had expected. Being completely alone on that mountain in the pitch black of night for about an hour was a very scary experience for me, good thing I always bring a headlamp.

I know my story is nothing serious, but there have been a few incidents and even deaths on that mountain from hikers becoming lost and getting injured. If I didn't bring my headlamp with me that day, I would have easily gotten lost or slipped off the trail and gotten hurt or even worse in the darkness of night.

Mostly when I was younger. I don't think that I've gotten lost recently.

Whenever I got pissed or just needed to clear my head I'd get behind the wheel of my car, turn up my stereo loud and drive in a random direction for a set amount of time "exploring" then head back. Well I kind of got "misplaced on more than one occasion ending up in Rhode Island, NH and Maine (fairly close to the Canadian Border). I eventually found myself back each time but it took next to forever to get back lol .
