Several years ago there was a rat that somehow got into my house. It chewed a hole into my piano and made it's nest in there. It apparently had a sweet tooth as it had stolen a bunch of candy and was hoarding it in it's nest in the piano.

Was it cute? Did you name him? I think King Ludwig II is a good name.
Also, be aware that mice can crawl up textured walls ( if your walls are smooth then don't worry about it, but otherwise it's creepy to watch).

They say, if you want to bait a trap, don't use cheese, that's only in cartoons.
Mice love chewable hard candy like gumdrops, and rats will take hard candy or raw bacon. (Oh, and use rubber gloves when setting it, so they don't smell a trap.)

"I know a mouse, and he hasn't got a house.
I don't know why. I call him Gerald.
He's getting rather old, but he's a good mouse."
