I feel like this generation of gaming so far has kinda sucked even though we have gotten some really good stuff out of it. I just feel like every company doesn't know where video gaming is going to head in the future. Sony doesn't know if there will be a PS5, Microsoft is combining Xbox and PC into one thing (which is a good thing), and we don't even know a single thing about the Nintendo NX yet and whether it will become successful. I love video games and it scares me knowing that there might be a potential crash in the future considering the current state of video gaming.

I agree with you. I'm pretty much a PS4 guy and it puzzles me how many consoles they are selling with the lack of games that are out there. E3 didn't satisfy me at all. Only Resident Evil 7 drew some interest. But with that they have a hard time convincing me this game has been in development even before P.T.

As far as I'm concerned it all started to go wrong when consoles gained an Ethernet port and a HDD as standard. That and the shift in game development moving from east to west.

It's just not as "revolutionary" as it was and it's mostly because they aren't keeping up with the tech anymore and are trying to be mini-PCs instead of consoles. Smart devices exist, too. Nintendo's first party games aren't as strong besides Zelda. Mario and Pokemon have become repetitive (I love Pokemon, but I have my complaints), they dropped Metroid completely, Star Fox didn't do well, Donkey Kong Country is good, but need more of it and... Well, at least they have Xenoblade and Fire Emblem neither which typically appeal to casuals and thus lowers unit sales. Wii U's flop was because of several things besides games, though. Separate topic.

As for the other 2, it's going ok. Their problem, though, is trying to be mini-PCs.

I hear a theory that the NX may go cartridge based which I think would be a fantastic move on Nintendo's part. That alone certainly has my attention, but I'm waiting to see if it's true and what game line-up they have.

I see hardcore gaming primarily being experienced through VR 5 to 10 years down the road.

Currently were at Atari levels in terms of VR tech, with only enthusiasts and gamers that can afford it getting into the VR scene. But once all the kinks are worked out (particularly the control scheme), VR will truly take off, reaching NES levels.

I'm gonna assume most will be playing on some form of Playstation, with the rest on XboxTwo/PC using HTC or Oculus's next gen VR headset.
