Akira, Gintama, Higurashi AND death note are getting live actions?

Exactly what the titles says.
I wouldn't mind seeing the Higurashi live action because Higurashi season 1 & 2 were pretty good in my taste.

Japanese Live Actions or is America trying their hand again at it? Cause I thought there was already a live action Death Note movie or two and Akira. Could of swore their was a live action Higurashi already, unless I am thinking of the one you are mentioning.

Higurashi might work if it's done right.

Death Note the original movies: Good, though the Ruroni Kenshin movies did it perfectly.

DN: the series....

Akira: Fuck no. They've been trying to make this LA for too long and it just wouldn't work, whether it's a Japanese production or even a Western adaptation.

Well, a live action version of Higurashi would so closely resemble a run-of-the-mill horror film that I'm not sure it would stand out. Gintama would stand out, but it's so long that I'm not sure it wouldn't be transformed into an exposition nuke the way Avatar: The Last Airbender was when it made the transition. Death Note has been done, so we know what those results were. And Akira? That could be good, particularly if they put a lot of focus on the part where conflict between the Great Tokyo Empire and the traditionalists emerges.

Netflix is making the Death Note live action series. L is going to be played by the guy that played Snoop Dog in Straight Outta Compton. My friend made a kind of racist but oddly true point about how the dark circles are going to be visible on L's eyes if he is black.

Higurashi had 2 live-action movies in Japan a few years back and they were okay but very verrrrrry slow. From what I've heard the new tv series debuted on Hulu in Japan in May and impressed a lot of it's viewers (as well as Hulu itself). It's already been signed for season 2.

What I'm finding really intriguing though is Justin Lin admitted to being in talks to direct Akira. I loved his work on the Fast and Furious movies and can't wait to see Star Trek Beyond so this has me really excited.
