If you are given the ability to create life, do you think you should do it? Well, I'm not talking about like taking care of an egg and have it grows into a chicken, but like create life as it is. It can be anything from ant to possibly a human being. Personally I think creating life is not the same as killing it, so maybe it should be allowed? What are your guys thoughts on it? I agree that creating life on a computer or sort, many things can go wrong. Creating life and destroying it can be done in the blink of an eye and in vast quantities. So should it be regulated?

Since we have already done this at the bacterial level it is just a matter of scaling up. The ethical questions is raises are many and should be dealt with sooner rather then later.

Well the thing about bacteria is that it is not conscious or with a nervous system. So they are kind of like plants. Those with a nervous system is what you should be careful about. But since I met some problem in my search for consciousness and digital immortality I am setting back from this question for now

I don't think I'd wanna create anything. I'd be worried I'd mess up the balance of nature or something if I created a new animal. Making too many of an animal that already exists could mess things up too.

Right, they're only focusing on biomechanics = =, I'll focus on transferring consciousness for very old animals, only very old animals will be tested

Would we be able to control what these lifeforms are like? If so, I say we shouldn't. We're too stupid to engineer inanimate objects without frequent mishaps and unforeseen problems. I can't imagine living ones will be any easier- especially after you consider the fact they need to be compatible with their ecosystems. Besides, someone will decide that everyone should be a certain way, or everyone should agree about everything, and they will just make everyone boring.

Why on Earth would creation be the same as destroying? What kind of edgy teen philosopher said that?
