It's impossible for me to hide it from others. I have too much merch and I'm into things too far. Everyone I'm friends with, everyone I work with, just about anyone I've ever come across more than a couple times knows this besides some regulars that come through my work (because we're too busy talking about literature).

Everyone knows, but not everyone supports it. Oh well.

I don't hide it, but I don't advertise it either. By my experience people who aren't into anime already don't WANT to understand it. It feels like their ego keeps them from giving it a chance and a lot of people are adamant about anime being solely for children regardless of what you tell them about the content.

I've honestly never met one single person who wasn't into anime that was willing to watch any at all, and I used to try to introduce people to it. Loooong since given that up though.

I feel like hiding my hobbies would be pointless anyway. Friends and lovers that would be a chore to keep.

If I meet a girl that I can really love, she would have to be ok with those hobbies. It'd be even better if she shared some of my enthusiasm for them! This one I don't see happening in my lifespan.

People are incredibly resistant to anime. It almost seems like they think they're "losing" somehow if they sit down and watch it. That's the impression I get anyway, maybe its just the type of people that live here.

I'm very open about my love of manga/anime, people pretty much refer to me as an Otaku/Geek/Nerd

No. Why would I bother to do that? It's right out by the TV in the living room along with my other DVD/Blu-Rays.

I don't hide anything. Or at least I try very hard not to. If I love something then the whole world will know it. I am not ashamed of my interests, hobbies or my likes vs my dislikes. I love anime and if others don't like it then that's their problem. I'm a guy and I also prefer ballet over football. Show me a linebacker than can stand on broken toes for hours while pushing their body past their limits....all with a big smile on their face. Sorry but that's hardcore. Plus it's beautiful and most importantly.....it makes me feel.

I have nearly replaced all normal TV with anime. Anime just does something for me that live action shows don't. I'm real big on feelings. Any feelings, sometimes even bad ones. For someone who spent over a decade burying even the tiniest shred of an emotion I've come to appreciate and embrace my emotions.

Why would anyone want to hide their likes? They are a part of what makes you you. I am not ashamed of anything I enjoy...well except for the occasional sexy sheep pictures but that's besides the point. Besides you'll can't prove anything...I burnt those photos. All joking aside always try to be you. You are unique and if people don't like parts of you then that's their problem, not yours. Anyone who puts you down for your interests is not a true friend in the first place and you're better off without them. It doesn't matter what you like or don't like, heck I don't care if you're a Bronie or not. Just be you. That I will always respect.
