My biggest issue with it is that the art style felt like it changed every scene

Ahhh wait a moment. I took a closer look now I get it . The Golden Age Arc is a prequel published after the Black Swordsman Arc and the BSA is what we see now but the original anime focused on the GAA. Great then I don't necessarily have to finish the GAA until next Friday .

Let's lay it out.

Chapter 1, 2, and 3 are the Black Swordsman Arc. It's pretty much this episode, with Gut's going around killing spirits, demons, and various random nerd people he meets. It establishes Guts as a loner who doesn't speak much, as well as praising his absurd badassness. I remember a moment in which Puck just says "He's not just strong, he's skilled too!" in the most absurd and ham-fisted line of exposition in the manga.

Chapters 4-11 are the Golden Age arc. The entire manga goes into flashback mode as we meet a 14 year old Guts. Wonderful little gif in the spoiler

The entire manga takes a more medieval approach here, giving you Gut's backstory during his time growing up in a country at war for over 100 years. From the origins of his name to the reasons he's currently doing what he is. Long story short, he
This is the arc that Berserk is most famous for, and has been adapted into both a series of Movies and an Anime that aired in 1997-98, nearly 19 Years ago.

This season takes place directly following Chapter 11...well, skipping 12&13 it seems. We've pretty much just missed Gut's
Watching right now is akin to watching Game of Thrones for the first time at season 5. You're going to be complaining why X or Y character is a big deal, and everybody else is going to bitch at you for asking stupid questions.

To summarize -

But go watch it! Enjoy it! It's pretty frikin great. Lots of fun action and wonderful characters. Also, watch it in English.....no seriously. English.

One part of what you write looks like you want to help me the other part just looks like you want to insult me. Use emojis .

Oh wow, it's already out. I committed anime sin #1336:

Failing to complete the list of shows you intend to watch and setting up bookmarks

Not to mention I kept procrastinating on reading the manga to catch up with the storyline. It honestly looks like I'm gonna be heavily overburdened with anime this season.

I realized that, and wanted to rewrite it a bit...but then my anger won out.

People across the internet are flinging insults at the show. Some don't like the CGI and others have no frame of reference.
It's easy to get defensive when you're surrounded by people shit talking a show you just enjoyed.

Yeah I recognized how many people are bashing the adaptation because they don't like the CGI without giving a reason for it so I already thought that you might just be angry because of that.
No problem .

This does not do justice to a story that has influenced a lot of other stories, from final fantasy to dark souls. Cutting out fights with the apostles, skipping key moments, merging pretty heavily, bland music compared to the old anime, terrible noises like the Dragonslayer hitting anything and making guts' the type of person that vomits after killing an undead child. Oh and hints of censorship when they showed Casca. It's pretty easy to see why fans are upset and turned off by this.

Hopefully D. gray man will be better :/

Well. That wasn't quite as bad as i feared it could be. It was pretty alright, good actually i think

Though it's clear they skipped things and tried to mesh other bits together so they could get to the main plot faster. Guess this was done so they could give the other bits more time to actually work.

The action was alright, had some good moments, some less good moments.

We'll see how it goes once it properly catches on to the main plot then.

But optimistic about this. It'll probably not be best of the season. But i'll be a good action romp.

I usual can overlook heavy CGI if the story is good which Beserk is and sorry but CGI is the future of animation with tight budgets. I thought the use of music was excellent and love electric rock star guitar when Guts is on the screen. I will be watching every episode this series thankful for something new TBH bring back a classic just like DGM and Ushio and Tora all redone.

Love the opening didn't expect them to change the events of how things are played on after seeing the preview. I'm not used to cgi but i expected it to me alot worse and this is pretty good! Not to into the music 8/10 for me!

So many ppl bitchin it is crazy. The art reminds of Valkyrie chronicles I have no problem with it. I have one complaint but it is not enough for me to hate the show or stop watching it. They seemed to mash up parts of a couple arcs. I was looking forward to seeing the arc with the Queen elf. That was a damn great arc for Guts. Maybe they are saving it for a new movie. As long as from here on out they stay true to the manga I will be one happy Berserk fan.
