So, we all love music, anime and for a portion of the anime Fandom, Vocaloid. So I was thinking along the lines of a Vocaloid Anime, if there were one, what would it be like?

I've been an animator and having access to the Vocaloid software, I could very well create a fan series (not an official anime as I do not have that kind of team at my disposal as well as content licenses, nor do I live in Japan).

I do not intend on making this, but if I did make a fan series or Official/Unofficial Anime, I would like to have something as a reference. What do you guys think?

If there's gonna be one, it would probably be the adaptation of "The Disappearance of Hatsune Miku" light novel that Seven Seas just licensed at AX.
It'd be something like Mekakucity Actors.

I imagine if a vocaloid anime happened it would have Miku as the MC and her trying to rise into the top singers or something. I can't imagine anything else that would make sense. Otherwise the light novel anikevin mentioned is probably the best reference you're going to get

If I am not mistaken, a common theme in vocaloid songs is the whole "don't judge me because I am a machine, we can live together in harmony" type feel. I think the best approach to such a project if this was not obvious already would be to play on that, have the series split, let's say, between cyberspace and real life, with a side protagonist, lets call him "The Manager" that serves as a kind of bridge between the two.

I think that kind of plot could open the doors to a lot of particularly creative writing and would allow for a lot of depth on how to expand on the characters and their psychology.

As a side note, if you actually were planning on starting such a series and need a songwriter, I'm in. Always been interested in doing something vocaloid but I am not particularly invested enough in that subgenre to buy the vocaloid software myself, haha.
