The main reason I have a Crunchyroll account is because of the Ultraman selections, so I've been pretty excited at the possibility of Ultraman Orb simulcasting online. But given that there's been no announcements for a subtitled release on CR, I'm starting to get a wee bit concerned. Anybody else have any thoughts on this?

It says the Orb spinoff will be on Amazon Prime Japan in December.

What we really need is one of these nice people here at Crunchyroll to let us in on the info...
Also, how about some Ultraman Dyna! Or any other fun Tsuburaya offerings?

It would be excellent if more Ultraman series were made available on Crunchyroll. I've got fond memories of Seven and Ace.

Disclaimer: I've never watched an entire Ultra Series (I'm more into Toei's Super Hero Time stuff personally), and the newest Ultraman I've watched any of was Nexus.

Watching Orb premiere now...is it me, or are the production values a bit...low, given this is supposed to be the milestone celebration of Ultra Series?

Yeah so, in episode 2 now, and honestly? I'm embarrassed for Tsuburaya Productions.

The acting in Orb is terrible. I've been doing some research, and it turns out pretty much the entire cast came out of Toei's reject pile. It kinda shows. Then there's the whole "shameless ripoff of Decade and Gokaiger" thing this has going.

What happened here? Ultra Series was the progenitor of Japanese tokusatsu superheroes. Now it's become a bad copy of the more successful ones. It's just...it's embarrassing. Maybe it's time Tsuburaya Productions was sold to Toei and folded into Super Hero Time. At least then maybe future Ultra Series won't be...this.

I find the acting to be pretty on point. (and better than most of what Sentai or Kamen Rider gives viewers) The cast is having a lot of fun with their characters and that makes them all the more interesting to watch. They're quirky and pretty lovable, which is enough to keep me interested. The hero's a unique for a tokusatsu hero, reminds me more of the Doctor from Doctor Who than anyone I've ever seen in a tokusatsu show.

You don't like that acting, that's fine, but how else is the show bad? It's giving us a cool mystery, a tragic backstory for the character, a unique take on the monster attack team, and a very bizarre and intriguing villain. As much as I loved X, Orb is a show that will do more to further the franchise and help it explore new ground.

Also, please, no, let's keep Ultraman away from Toei. Tsuburaya is already partly owned by Bandai and it's thanks to them that they were able to manage their financial crisis with some shred of dignity and are now trying to fight their way back to the top. I think they've found a great formula with Orb. So what if using past heroes is something Sentai and Kamen Rider did before? Ultraman was doing that way back in Mebius and Ultra Galaxy - which is where the Cardass tie in for Decade even came from.

As I watch episode three of this rapidly derailing train wreck, it occurs to me that maybe a trio of Epic Fails wasn't the best choice of "anchor" for a toku hero show. I can't stand the Something Search People and I want them to die in a fire. They are the most annoying toku characters of all time, and yes, I'm including Ninninger in that statement.

I dropped Ninninger fairly quickly because of the obnoxious characters (and a lot of other reasons), and I'm a die-hard Super Sentai fan. Given I've never watched a complete Ultra Series in my life, I really don't see myself sticking with this flaming pile much longer.

But that's just my opinion, of course.

Hey, Crunchyroll... just wanted to ask, again, any chance for Ultraman Tiga, or Ultraman Dyna?
