Episode 2

What exactly happens that ends up killing Kakeru remains to be seen. In the meantime, Hiroto's blazer loses a button and Kakeru shows off his soccer skills. Naho makes a lunch for Kakeru, but lunch is delivered in an awkward way. And then a big secret is revealed about Kakeru as her mother committed suicide, he didn't attend her funeral, and he vowed to never join a club and in the future, Hiroto and Naho are married with a child. It's no wonder why there are concerns over Kakeru as having his mother kill herself like that has set into motion a life full of pain as Kakeru is set to die in a car accident.

Episode 2

Man, everything in Orange fits so well and it is terrific.

I feel people owe to themselves to watch Orange because it is well directed and looks beautiful. The narrative is coming off strong and this episode proves it.

I've read the manga, so I can't wait for more of the anime!!

Some more nice development and they really didn't take too long to confirm a couple of the bigger details without really giving too much away, which is always nice. They certainly could have dragged it out a lot longer. I also like how the relationship between Naho and Suwa feels like a natural one and a real legitimate place for the world to have gone without Kakeru around instead of just a random "well we had to do something" decision.

I haven't read the manga, so most of this is speculation, but......

That wasn't quite what I was expecting in terms of Kakeru missing school. I also took that as an implication that his mother might have lived if he had gone straight home? Geezus.

I like that the letters can be vague at times, as the subtitles make it seem like Naho didn't realize the "leaving" part meant death at first. I did mention last week that Naho is playing with a double-edged sword in that her future self could potentially cause her past self to make things worse. There is also the matter of whether she regrets Kakeru's death as a friend or romantic interest? I enjoy seeing the future sequences, but it's entirely possible things still turn out that way if Kakeru lives.

I heard a fair amount of people were unhappy with the manga ending, so that also makes me more curious to see what happens.

I was absolutely terrified of trying this one out, so I waited for the 2nd episode to give a 2 episode start. It's totally my kind of show. At first I thought it was going to be one of those "investment impact" shows like Kiznaiver/Grimgar/Fruit of Grisaia, but they moved things along quite quickly without feeling excessively rushed. There's nothing really special about the story, but there's a lovely soundtrack, some nice cinematography, and personalities that stand out. If you pay close attention the lines are quite good and surprisingly realistic, I like that the voice actors can get into some really relatable conversations that don't suffer from a "culture clashing" or lost-in-translation issues. And of course the VA's are doing a great job so far. Nothing like KanaHana to take the lead role and soothe use through this emo coaster ride.

So in short, I only think the plot is very weak. Everything else seems nice so far.
