This is the Golden Season of 2016. Re-Zero, Shokugeki no Souma, Arslan Senki, ToZ, etc..
ufotable never seizes to impress me. Animation was beautifully done as always. ToZ is a pretty dark Tales game, but this episode was incredibly dark. Countless deaths and the look of despair in Alisha's face really set a dark tone in this series. I know Velvet has some sort of relation to the shepherds, but I wonder how she'll fit in ToZ since she didn't appear in the game. |

Interesting. I haven't watched the episode yet, and even though it seems like the story is a bit confusing, I'm still really excited to watch it. Ufotable is the only studio that I can trust to make a good adaptation of a game. I didn't get to play the title last year, The Witcher 3 had me very busy, but I did enjoy the adaptation of God Eater also made by Ufotable, so this could be really cool, I just hope the show isn't nearly as bad as other game adaptations like Divine Gate.

The animation is fantastic. Some of it was breathtaking.
Never heard of this before, but it looks like the story is going to be epic (and by epic, I mean long). Will they make enough episodes or am I going to get into this and be left hanging? No idea what happened during the whirlwind scene. Two characters were active, other than the princess, but I couldn't tell if both of them were evil and working together or one was trying to cancel out the other? confusion, confusion, confusion, bam!, dragon. Guess I'll try to piece that one together in later episodes. |

Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide Just finished episode 1, and damn........ the theatrical music.... the animation, especially the latter scene with all that destruction.... it jarred me right at the edge of my seat. Never played the game, and even if the description for the anime did not appeal to my interest, thought I'd give this a try. (Ufotable impressed me enough with F/S N UBW.) And now, keepin' this in my queue. ![]() |

Decent animation, but honestly Zestiria was a pretty boring game compared to some of the others as far as story goes. Hopefully they will take a few liberties with this anime and make it a bit more interesting.

Well. The animation was pretty good, CG was pretty spectacular. Storywise. It felt very jumpy. Some really noticable cuts. Obviously they were trying to get to the good bits. But it was certainly a jarring experience.
Also quite the whiplash when it shifted to the very cheery ED. |

First ep looked super gorgeous but so damn disjointed, no clue what happened at all...walking---random tomb -- camp fire -- storm--Clemn dying---for good measure toss a little girl to the storm too--Fire Dragon!...sounds like a regular Tuesday.
But seriously...whats going on in the show? Maybe the actual ep 1 will make more sense since this was 00 |

Impressive first episode. I played the game and it looks like this episode happens right before it. Poor Alisha, her and Edna is probably the best characters in the show. Story will make sense after this.
Also they showed Tales of Berseria on the ending credits. Will they be making that into an anime as well? That game is not even out yet. |

This was interesting and not to mention epic to see ^-^
I was surprised by the fact that Sorey didn't even appear in this episode, but then I noticed that this happens prior to everything else in the game. Pretty interesting though. Can't wait for the gang to appear! |

Having played the game this episode threw me for a loop. From what it looks like it seems that the show is going to be anime original. While I'm sure this episode is building up to where the game begins, what happens in this first episode never happens in the game. And while Zestiria and Berseria do take place in the same world, Zestiria takes place hundreds of years later so seeing the MC from Berseria in the OP was interesting.
If anything I'm more excited now than I was before. While I was expecting it to be a simple adaptation, it looks like they want to try something different which is fine with me. |

scoobydew wrote: I liked the first episode but I also like Arslan and the knight period. This has a King Arthur style to it with sword stuck in rock and a new dragon with a evil mist hanging in the sky. I keep waiting for a Merlin figure to show up? Lots of action all around the princess but of course she is only survivor so far and entire town is leveled. I will be watching more so far lots of action. It's kinda cool to have both on the same day ! They got my attention. |
