Yeah they are using the games English localization terms for the subs instead of the actual names which makes it weird for non game players.

Episode 3

Sorey and Mikleo are at Ladylake where the Sacred Blade Festival is going on. They manage to enter town, but not realizing that every favor requires money that he ends up having to give up something valuable. Behind the scenes, Bartow is plotting Alisha's assassination. On the final day, candidates try to pull the sacred blade out, but nobody could so, and the palace is attacked by a hellion in the form of a dragon that ordinary humans can't see. Sorey sets off to become that SHephard as he can see the seraphim Lailah on a mission to have humans and seraphims coexisting. He draws the sacred blade to slay the dragon, and that was quite a spectacle there. This show just continues to be great eye candy while the story is holding up pretty well.

Episode 3

That was great, Sorey managed to become the Shepherd by wielding that sword.

From what I understand, that also means he is the wielder of the new Sacred Blade for the festival. Glad to see they introduce Laliah this episode as well. Just a guess but I think the person that tried to kill Alisha this episode is the same person that met Sorey early on...

Three episodes in and I still can't get enough of that opening. The OP animation is so great. Especially the part with Laliah casting the spell. I haven't played the games or seen the OVA so I'm really interested to see where this goes. I'm a little worried on the about the war subtext going on but we will see how they do it.

I just love the music they've been using for the show. Might go on yt to check out some of the OST for the game as well.

Good episode I like the set up for the transformation for Sorey into a Shepard. The ED of this show is pretty funny to watch I highly recommend it.

Good episode. I especially loved how Alisha stood on her own in the fight. She's not some damsel in distress but a trained fighter quite capable of taking care of herself.

Also, quick spoiler-y question.

Not based on source material spoilers, but from the watching the episode I would say...

Unrelated to the above, this is winding up to be one of my favorite shows this season. Along with Rage of Bahamut, this is one of the recent shows that defies my rule of thumb that anime based on video games doesn't turn out well.

I can't believe how much I'm enjoying this series, after the disaster that was Divine Gate earlier this year, it's so nice to see a game adaptation that is actually able to tell a coherent story, much like Rage of Bahamut did, and the gorgeous animation just makes it better. Even though it has only 3 episodes as of yet, not counting the prologue, as one of this season's fantasy shows I'm enjoying this just as much as Re:Zero, Arslan and Berserk, if not more. I can't wait to see how the story develops.

Overall an excellent episode, I really think everybody should give this a try, even if they've never heard of the Tales series before.

Seriously, what do the guys at ufotable do to come up with this footage. That helion scene was insane. I'd have to imagine there's a mountain of unused art and literally terabytes of discarded footage they didn't think was good enough. I really like the design on that sword! I guess everything seems to be the same up until now, the warring empires plot and legendary hero. It's nice to see the cast expand pretty quickly too. So I heard a familiar voice in today's episode and decided to look up some names. The VA doing Rose also does Tsugumi from Nisekoi?? Although I will forever know her as Yume in Grimgar. Plenty of other notable roles as well, I think I found a new favorite.

In the full armor scene she sounded exactly like the exact tone she used in her role in "Ajin" as Izumi Shimomura.

I'm now convinced Ufotable uses sorcery to animate their shows.

So far so good. The animation is nice to watch, Alisha is so cute(!) and of course, there's that Tales of-styled dialogue at the end. You gotta love that. Can't wait to see what's next. I should consider buying the game. We'll see what happens. We'll see.
