I'm getting a Shirobako vibe from this show based on the plot description.

Just to clear the air before people start wondering why this show isn't up yet, it will be streaming on Tuesdays at Crunchyroll. It airs on Mondays on AT-X and on Tokyo MX on Tuesdays, and usually the Tokyo MX airtime is used in a situation like this.

Episode 1

It's the first dame of work for Aoba, and she's fresh out of high school despite looking like she goes to middle school. The first person she meets is the art director Rin, and she meets the creator of her favorite game Yagami who is sleeping in her panties at the workplace. There's Hazuki who brings in a cat, Umiko who brings a B.B. gun to work, Hifumi who prefers to say everything by private message, and two others on the character design team. The workplace sure is quirky seeing that an ID card is needed to use the restroom. So her first day on the job ends with Aoba wanting to be the CD for the next project, Fairies Story 3. So far, it's off to a great start as the girls are cute and the show has a fun atmosphere to it.

Episode 1

So, New Game ain't no Shirobako, that's for sure..

Still, it'll be fun to see how Aoba continues her passion by working for her favorite game company. In all honesty, I'm not expecting much since some of the content seems to be more focused on comedy.

I also feel some bits are catered towards otaku's and ecchi fan service (I.e Panty Shots).

It's a funny show so far. Aoba looks like a kid in this but the character chemistry so far is pretty fun to watch.

Meanwhile, they take the professional environment and makes it look like something really fun to be part of. Artwork is very light as kinda expected. I'll be watching more of this for sure. Hope we learn more about each of the other characters besides their age and roles.

Episode 1

A high school graduate first day at a gaming company how is that possible? Did she go to some high school with a Art program? If she was a college graduate I could believe it. I enjoyed the first episode nice cast of character and plot is like Shirobako but this time we see the gaming side of the industry.

That was interesting. as someone said not sure I'd believe someone would hire someone right out of high school to work at a game company.... but this looks like a fun show otherwise so I'll let that pass a bit worried might be high in on the fanserice I'll give this one 4 eps and see what they do wit this set up.

As someone working in a similar industry, I'm very confused as to how she got hired, especially with no 3D experience. Is she getting paid to learn Maya from scratch? Is she on an internship? I doubt she has a demo reel, but what about a portfolio? If everyone there is introducing themselves to her like it's their first meeting then who interviewed this girl? Was there an interview!?

Shh...I'd best not....think about it too much....

Although it seems they're focusing on the character design staff, I would like to see Japan's game creation process up close...

I like the concept but the execution just left me cold. The first episode was just sort of.. boring. Hopefully it picks up next week.

Unpaid overtime and the resulting nervous breakdowns do not make for a good show.

Seeing that level of reality in a show would be interesting in its own way...but the powers that be would never be so honest about such issues.

In any case, I was talking more in terms of what steps they take to get from point A to point B, which software do they use, how are the tasks distributed etc. - I'm curious to see how things differ compared to what I know of western game design.

Well, Shirobako wasn't afraid to at least touch upon some of the dickery that goes on behind the scenes of anime production. Of course, it would probably just be discussed/shown as something that happens at "other" development houses. Then again, they are already tiptoeing around the concept of "crunch" so who knows.

Know your place, scrub . They should just staple Aoba's ID card to her.

That was a really good first episode, it has me hooked and interested.
