Synopsis

Toward the end of the 19th century, Allen Walker officially joins the organization of Exorcists that destroy the beings known as Akuma; mechanic weapons made by the Millennium Earl with the suffering souls of the dead. Allen has both a cursed eye and an anti-Akuma weapon as an arm, bearing the power of "Innocence," a gift given to him as an apostle of God. Allen, along with his fellow Exorcists must put a stop to the Millennium Earl's ultimate plot that could lead to the destruction of the world and all who live on it.

For a 13-episode anime, I expected a little better animation. It looked a bit choppy, even in just walking around and talking.

I think it's looking good. I wasn't sure how I would feel about the character designs and color scheme, but I ended up liking it. Not all the VAs match up, but they did a good job. It still feels like D.Gray-man which is all I could really hope for.

The pacing felt good. Minimal recap (so go refresh your memory if it's been a while)

I'm glad they skipped the destruction of the black order arc and did some rearranging of the material. It was really easy to just dive back into the series after such a long break. If they keep this up we should have a fairly good adaption of the next few arcs.

I wasn't completely sold on some of the new looks Miranda especially threw me off a bit but Allen and Lavi look good the animation wasn't perfect but it was decent just glad D-Gray Man is finally back.

I think you mean Lenalee. Her voice sounds like half-way between Hirano Aya and Itou Shizuka (who was the previous Lenalee) so I think it's perfectly fine.

The only voices so far I'm not liking are Lavi and Kanda.

Lavi's voice is way too high pitched for his body, Kanda on the other hand used to seem like an angry stuck up genius, sort of like Sasuke, now he sounds more like a delinquent.

This was a very enjoyable episode though it did feel a bit rushed. But this is only one cour apparently so I'm sure they want to get right to the real exciting stuff. The conversation between Cross and Allen especially felt rushed. I remember how much that chapter floored me and the scene in the anime just doesn't have the same emotional resonance.

Overall though I'm very happy to have DGM back as an anime. It was one of the earliest animes I watched and really hooked me. I think all the new voice actors are doing a great job so far. Looking forward to next episode and the introduction of Timothy.

Sagenaruto68.... can you add the list of the current seiyuu. Even though its been many years now , I still remember the seiyuu on the key characters especially Sakurai.

Ayumu Murase as Allen Walker
Ai Kakuma as Lenalee Lee
Natsuki Hanae as Lavi
Masakazu Nishida as Tyki Mikk
Takuya Satō as Yū Kanda
Tsuguo Mogami as Cross Marian
Go Inoue as Komui Lee
Houchu Ohtsuka as Bookman
Yutaka Aoyama as The Earl of Millennium (Millennium Earl)

Well Murase would make an awesome Allen, Hanae is ok but not Kanda. Sakurai's Kanda was more intense .
so now Allen is stronger personality wise. But I wonder whats the time difference between the prequel. I did read the manga abit after .

Just watched DGM Hallow yesterday, so happy to see Allen & Kanda again.. It feels so nostalgic.. I missed them, it's already been 8 years since the last episode (#103), I remembered I was still a 13 year old little girl the first time I watched D.Gray-man 10 years ago and had a crush on those two. Though I must admit I liked the original voice actors better than the current ones.. Overall, I'm not disappointed and looking forward for the next episodes.
