Plot Summary

Seigi, a martial arts trained middle schooler, often feels driven to protect the weaker people around him. One day, he defends a homeless man against some punks, and the man gives him a strange tattoo on his palm in return. The tattoo is a secret weapon produced in the arms race between America and the Serinistan Kingdom.

Seigi finds himself in over his head when a powerful girl, using the same secret weapon, violently pursues him in order to retrieve it. His skill at martial arts may not be enough to keep him alive, but will he be able to learn how to trigger the power of his tattoo in time?

Episode 1

Seigi is always there to help those who need it, but he gets caught up in something big having gotten that tattoo, a secret weapon from America being used in a war against the kingdom. And then there's Izzy who is using the power of her tattoo to confiscate them, while Seigi is trying to find his trigger. She follows him around to make sure he doesn't spill the secret. And a tattooed fighter attacks with hulking strength and Seigi's tattoo happens to be triggerless. This episode is mostly setup here, but there's certainly a lot of intrigue in this show. It's off to a decent start, and let's see where this show goes.

Episode 1

Weird, I mean the episode has a serious vibe but the comedy...

Meanwhile, they got some of the most generic character names out of the book. JC Staff's quality and soundtrack is nice though and action seems fluid with minimal censorship. I think this might be a 1 cour? Curious to see how much they plan to adapt.

This first episode is pretty good, but the "comedy" (see above pic of cat) keeps getting stuck in abruptly, which hurts the flow of the show.

This whole episode took about half of the first volume of the manga and there are currently 11 volumes. Could be two but I think it may be one as well.

It feels kind of like JC Staff's version of Bungou Stray Dogs. Serious, but they toss in a lot of comedy that just seems out of place.

This said, it was all right. I'll keep watching.

Pretty good first episode adaptation of the manga. So far I don't think there's a pacing issue.

One difference from the manga:

Theodore Wilson, the guy Seigi fights, is actually dressed up like a street delinquent in the manga but they made him wear a business attire and also made him bulkier in the anime. I hope there aren't too many changes in the adaptation.

Not sure what to make of this show..

It has an interesting promise and it obviously trying to be serious, but the comedy it goes for doesn't work out and drags it down.. I won't be dropping, but as of now, it barley has enough to keep me around.

I do hope it has more to offer than this.

Interesting so far. I enjoy the manga so I am going to enjoy this as well. The comedy was kinda weird, but I guess that's to be expected from JC Staff.

The animation is beautiful, the fight choreography and what not is pretty sexy too. I didn't see seinen or shounen in the genres but I hope it's a seinen. The OP was pretty good too. There's a lot of bad ass and at the same time moe women. I don't mind the comedy, it'd be exhausting if it was all serious, all of the time, for me personally, at least. I think this has a lot of promise.

American mafia dude had me dying tho when he activated gear second like luffy in the same exact stance.

slightly interesting. Not really all for the whole high schooler gets some secret power but i liked the animation style and was surprised to see it was a JC staff entry.

I like it. There's some minor issues here and there, but overall it's a very complete show with just about everything it needs to have some buildup for the climax. Great first episode that set up the theme and setting without awkwardly or forcefully introducing characters. The animation is great, but honestly it's the sound effects that are pretty badass. Pay close attention and you might notice the great use and selection of SFX. The soundtrack seems promising. Hopefully the story doesn't take a generic route of "beat the big bad boss who is all powerful", but from the ED video footage that could (maybe with a twist?) be the case. Let's see where they take this thing.
