oh, i dont know if it was just our book, but Rizal's life seems to be so exaggerated
i didn't really enjoy reading about his life because the writer (G. Zaide) made it seem like he was writing a fanfic about his hero Rizal = A= too much flowery words and he put Rizal on a pedestal too high that everything sounds like bs when you really read into it @@

it might be different with other authors though, Zaide must've been a real Rizal fanboy XD

Well, he IS the national hero. Of course he'd be put on a pedestal. Did they not talk about all his women? Lol.. That's my favorite to read about him.

Haha! Same!! I almost failed Filipino class once because my reading and vocabulary were so bad. And I definitely hated reading Noli and El Fili. Ughhh... That was so bad. -_-

Pretty sure I failed Filipino class more than once

Some Tagalog words are just... too Tagalog hahaha! I don't really know any other way to describe it.

The only thing I remember about Noli is that I was given a major role in my class's production about it.

yeah it's the women i did not like reading into mang o;
they listed all 13 (?) of them and emphasized how ladies are soooooo attracted to him
it seemed like they were compensating for something - v-;;;

Oh geez... I couldn't afford failing. I got enough beatings being lazy and not doing my homework. Lol!! I never did any plays, but I do remember having to memorize and recite Mi Ultimo Adios (in Spanish!) for something. That sucked.

Well, he was smart, rich, and influential. It's a given that the ladies would flock to him.
I just think that part made him imperfect and humanized him quite a bit.

Anyone remember "Ibong Adarna"?

Thought so

We were given that to read but I honestly don't remember a thing about it (besides the title).

Swedish/Filipina here.

My nanay taught me Tagalog words, and we talk strictly in Tagalog. So, ayon po, medyo bihasa po ako sa Tagalog. Also, I know some "beki" words (my Filipino cousin taught me some) like "charot" and the like.
