as for the game, i'm not sure to even try. i doubt it's as good as they show in the promotional videos...
(not to mention my hands are already full with deresute). i also don't need a motivation to go out anyway.

You are misunderstanding what I wrote. Those games don't have ads at all in first place. I'm talking about blocking actual game content with the help of an ad blocker to save bandwidth on mobile connections. Pokemon Go and Ingress both use fairly high res images (actual photographs taken by players) to represent locations in the game. These images take quite a bit out of the data budget on mobile connections, but aren't exactly necessary to play the game.

ah, that makes sense now, thanks. didn't know you could use the ad blocker that way, interesting.
the game using very high res image...considering the data cap and what-not, that was probably a bad decision on their part.
though the data cap doesn't apply if you only play while using wifi (though that defeats the purpose of the game)

Well, it kinda depends on how active you are. During my time in Japan I easily burned through a 5 GB plan playing Ingress quite actively. Back home in Germany I rarely use more than 200 MB per month on it, as I stick to a more limited number of places in the game.

Don't know if this has been answered yet but...

What is this, what does it do, where can we get it, and when does it come out?

Downloaded it last night before going off to work. I have to say it isn't that bad but I don't see myself playing it long term. As others have said the battery drain is massive. The location seems to at times be quite a bit off as I was right next to a pokestop and it just kept saying it was too far. In my area there are pokestops and gyms all over the place and pokemon are everywhere. In just one night I've caught 26 and have seen 28 which I consider to be pretty decent. The data and battery issues are pretty severe though. If they find a way to allow the phone to sleep while still finding stuff it would be way better but I know that is probably not going to happen. So again, fun for awhile but prolly will not stick with it.

Yikes! This is a craze everywhere apparently. By "everywhere" I mean my local coffee shop, where half of everyone there, including the owner, are playing.

Usually, except for discussion about major news events, conversations from CR's forums aren't part of my offline life.

There is a battery saver option in the settings. If you turn that on it should help. Also in order for it to work you need to turn your phone upside down. It will then cause the screen to go black with a faint Pokemon Go logo. That should help conserve battery. Your phone will still vibrate when a Pokemon is near. I haven't noticed the data usage; I've been using my data for when i have walked my neighborhood, to the park, and etc. Like I think another user mentioned the majority of the data usage comes from the Pokestops. I didn't really go to them. (Also should mention even before i downloaded the game i already used most of my data)

It's too hot to walk too far and I live in a secluded area of my already small town, so I can't find a thing.

Yea I know about that but my phone tends to lay on its side in my pocket more than straight up or down and so it wasn't very helpful. The data usage was the least problematic part of it. Mostly it was the battery and that some locations were not all that accurate at all.

I went into work today and everyone was playing Pokemon Go haha. It's tons of fun and a great way to get people off their asses. It's quite impressive what they have done with this game.

The servers have been a problem though, yes. The game was down for maintenance for multiple hours today, which is annoying but at least it shows they are trying to improve the game. Since it's been back up, I haven't experienced any problems with it. I just wish there was a way to add your friends in-game and maybe create a group together or something.

I just went out for maybe an hour and a half, it drained the battery but I mostly had the screen on the entire time, the stops around my neighborhood were churches, murals and bodegas, also some the gyms are gas stations lol.
I found crabs on this guy's butt lol
