Hey everyone. So about a year ago, I started to take classes on the Japanese language, but I am not like a master nor am I any good at the language. I also love watching anime. Plus the fact that I want to visit Japan one day just for the sight seeing and things like that. I am not boastful about this. I don't watch hentai because I have no sexual interest in animated women. I also watch American movies and shows, and play their video games.
More importantly, I plan on making a YouTube channel where I do anime reviews. I plan on occasionally speaking Japanese in the videos to practice the language.
So, this begs the question, does this make me a weeaboo? Because, I honestly hate them, and the worst thing that could happen is for me to become one of them.
Please answer!

You're only a weeb if you're obnoxiously ignorant and act flamboyantly all the time about anything related to Japan. Weebs have no shame and are obsessed.

I do believe you know that answer yourself. If you dislike them, you know well enough if you are one or not. I do think this is a poorly worded thread.

Are you a weeb? No.
Are you an asshole/douche? It looks like it from your thread.

The definition of "weeaboo" which has been said on every youtube video about them, is Weeaboo: A person who disowns or ignores their own culture believing they are japanese.
Unless you think you're japanese when you're not you're fine.

Unless you believe Japan to be the motherland and every other culture shit then no you're not, weebs think Japan is the one true nation but Japan has a lot of problems if you do your research not to mention Otaku are looked down upon in Japan. Having a lot of interest in a culture is fine, so is learning its language, I myself have tried to learn Japanese though I can never find the time these days so I suck at it

Probably because of his pure hatred for weeaboos, he made it quite clear that he despises them and would be devastated if he became one.

Don't quote me though, it's only my guess

Obviously he is grabbing for attention, maybe to make the thread work who cares. Weeaboos are the star trek fans of the anime world, keep in mind this is a place where everything is supposed to be all sunshine and farts say anything negative and they go off on you like you just killed a baby or some shit. *sigh* when you're bored go to YT and if you want an actual conversation talk to your friends. This place is pointless.

And before you ask, yes i'm an asshole and I do occasionally grace this boring place with my appearance just long enough for me to luagh at them struggling frantically to try and maintain this candy land of there's.

Tbh I doubt anyone here will square up, I guess I have one hell of a surpressive will.

Bring on the hate.....or not, I just came to make sure people still prattled on pointlessly without allowing any adverse opinions.

Bye CR community see you in a few months, years or whatever......

^^^ Pretty much. I don't like when people swing around the weeaboo word, because it gives a lot of us a bad name. The only people who think weeaboo means the above and doesn't apply to all Japanophiles are uh, Anime fans and other Japanophiles.

Actually, weeaboo refers to someone who disowns their own culture, claims a new one and in turn disrespects that culture and/or continues believing they're from that culture. It doesn't just apply to Japan, but people seem to think it does . Sorry if I sounded rude or like an asshole, didn't mean to .

Now for my actual comment. Just because you want to make videos about anime reviews and occasionally speak Japanese in them, won't make you a weeaboo. A friend and I have thought about doing the same thing (minus speaking Japanese) and it would solely be for fun. But it is funny when people use weeaboo in the wrong way, I can't help but laugh each time XD
