Episode 1

While all hell is breaks loose somewhere faraway, all is too quiet where Yui and Rena live. But that's about to change with the arrival of Kei and a guy who can transform into a Regalia mecha to attack Rena. As it turns out, Rena is a Regalia as well. Seeing that this yuri couple is inseparable that Yui comes in and fights alongside Rena in the Regalia. Together, those two girls defeat the enemy. It's off to a decent start there, and while the mecha fight is pretty generic, the relationships between the sisters, as well of the other girls, has a lot of intrigue to it.

Episode 1

If you wanted to watch a show about moe girls and mechs this season, Regalia is your option.

There isn't much yet, except for the action that took place. I feel like this will replace last season's high school fleet, but I do hope it will be more serious and have a good story going for it.

It'll be fun to keep up with this.

Oh look, it's Escvangeliflownase. And it's set in Old World European 21st Century Tokyo that has some generic fantasy name.

Gratuitous sleeping loli butt within the first 3 minutes.

Grumpy loli is grumpy. Grumpy loli is also apparently the older of the two sisters, even though the other sister looks like she's in her late teens.

Grumpy loli has a mysterious gosurori friend. Mysterious gosurori friend tells grumpy loli it's time she remembered the truth about what happened twelve years ago.

Grumpy loli calls her sister and tells her she has to go away for a while and doesn't know when she'll be back and grumpy loli is now sad melancholy loli...melanchloli? You know, I just don't care. Melanchloli goes to meet up with mystery loli, and instead finds a creepy old man who shows her his big hard thing.

By which I mean a mecha he summons out of nowhere.

Creepy Old Man starts smashing up the place with his mecha. Melanchloli chants a magic spell and transforms into Evangeliloli. Evangeliloli gets molested all over the place and turns back into Melanchloli. Melanchloli's sister comes running to check on her. Little Sister talks some big smack to the guy in the giant mecha, who laughs at her because, well...a schoolgirl talking smack to a giant mecha is kinda laughable.

We get some bland exposition in the middle of a field of flowers that's really the two sisters' hearts connecting or some nonsense like that, about how Melanchloli isn't human, but the power source/core/whatever for Evangeliloli. It's so cliche it's hard to care what the explanation is. And then Little Sis becomes the pilot of Evangeliloli.

So...what, she's...inside Loli Big Sis now? Is...is that supposed to be some kind of really creepy metaphor? Anyway, Evangeliloli beats up Mo'Lester (yeah, I've decided his name is Mo'Lester), who goes out with as much crazy as he started off with.

Not gonna sugarcoat it: this show is so cliche and so bland I didn't want to sit through the first episode. The only reason I bothered watching the entire first episode was to mercilessly make fun of it. I'm not torturing myself with any more of this bland, cliche nonsense.

You did not seriously just suggest this is an adequate replacement for Haifuri. You did NOT just say that.

Episode 1

Eh it was alright, a strange start though tbh for the show's way of presenting mecha warfare with cute girls being the pilots.

I honestly felt like there was way too much happening from the first episode though so hopefully they'll flesh out the story. Surprisingly, I also think the show has as really good soundtrack so far.

The good:
-Mecha designs
-2D mecha fights (thank goodness, decent action too)
-Doesn't take itself too seriously, at least not yet
-Fun to watch, complete with a silly end-of-episode-1 twist that most mecha shows of this type have

The bad:
-Hard to take anything seriously when everyone that matters in this show is inexplicably a moe girl (perhaps that's the point?)
-As mythrilmoth took plenty of effort to point out, it's a little bland
-The director was partly responsible for the disappointment that was Infinite Stratos Season 2

Seeing as this is Actas, the same studio that did Girls und Panzer, I'd say this show has large shoes to fill. I hope the story picks up in the next few episodes. It's a fun show, but it doesn't really have me hooked.

Maybe it hasn't been emphasized enough, but all the "main" characters appear to be high school aged girls. The exception seems to be the elementary school aged loli's. The main one of these can turn into a giant robot that her "sister" can pilot. The artwork is OK. The story line really doesn't grab me, but maybe others will enjoy it more. My impression is that it may be a giant robot show aimed towards middle school aged girls. It seems to be on the order of Fate/kaleid liner with robots

Was the sound bad during those mecha fights? Or is my earphones just too old to handle the bass? XD

Interesting show though I'm not really sure what to make of it yet. I'll give it at least another few episodes. One thing of note though is that the OST was done very well. Some nice music in there.

No, I was getting that too. I don't have the best sound setup either but it definitely didn't sound good to me.

Episode 2

I can't believe that Yui actually gave her three sizes. So there's a connection between Rena and what happened 12 years ago as she is expecting to have enemies coming after her. In comes Ingrid asking Yui to hand over Rena for the good of her country, while Jonny and Johann are there to put on a show. So the council has decided to support Yui's decision to protect Rena as Yui and Rena battle Jonny and Johann and their circus act. Those clowns have the two cornered and literally boxed up there at the end. While the story didn't do much for me, the mecha action was decent there. There's still a lot that's not being told here, but there's still some intrigue in this.

They really are messing a lot with the jokes.

Sadly, I think the show is losing its flavor there despite some of the action (still a bit gimmicky though). In the meantime, I guess this establishes Yui as the main empress and ruler of their country unless something changes. They really should of made more screen time for the mech action in the end. On the other hand, I like the music of the show namely the OP song.

I really liked ep. 2. I like how they are moving with the world and character building thus far. Still leaving questions, but also giving us tastes of more info dumping to come.

I think it is cool how the mecha seem to have a theme attached to them. i also like that it seems to be a mix of magic and technology.

Overall I am just liking this show a lot. It's a different and interesting take of a mix of different genres.

I find it funny though how people are rating this show so low already with only 2 episodes out and the biggest complaint seems to be "moe," yet this is done by the same people as GuP.

The music is excellent! The plot, with all its holes and logic flaws, is a hot mess.... the animation is also a mess at times but I'm still watching it.

Best line in the episode might have been:

TRUE sounds like Nana Mizuki in a Symphogear OP here! Really good! Official Lantis short MV for Divine Spell:

CR just had an article about the ED by Minami which is also really good. Hard to believe she's 40 in that MV:
http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2016/07/14-1/minamis-regalia-the-three-sacred-stars-ed-song-mv-previewed

Not quite sure how this somewhat dodgy show got such good music but it's a reason to watch it if nothing else.
