Disappointed as fuck.

I love this manga so much, but the first half with Team handa BSing around? Killed it. Once it actually got into the plot, it was ok...

There is probably a reason why they did that...I didnt read this far in the manga but I didnt mind those Handa fan boys , I thought it was just silly.

Well Handa san was 23 when he was in Goto Island and this prequel is 6 years before that so Handa is 17 years old.

Dropped. Made it 16 minutes in.

The first part was really bad, I don't see the point of it. Felt like it was wasting my time and was waiting for the actual show to start.

Actual show wasn't much better. The show itself was testing my patience, and I couldn't see it getting any better. Really poor attempts at humor, imo. Wasn't really comedic at all.

The entire first half was unbearable to say the least, but once the actual show started it was decent. There's a severe lack of comedy this season, so I'm willing to forgive some less than stellar moments. Take away the first half and the comedy is decent with a very unique and unpredictable style to it. The art is pretty bad, there's nothing special about the scenery/setting/character designs. But they do have a creative use of some comedy within the art itself as well. I'll give it another episode, but to be honest I was seconds away from dropping this. Please do away with the 4 man gag with 4th wall breaking routine. I feel like I'm watching a Gintama clone, where I need to get used to the humor and unusual exaggeration. I'm completely new to the series, for those who were wondering.

Episode 2

And the craziness continues seeing that this is far different from Barakamon in that it's all comedy and not much in the way of a story. But nevertheless it's funny. Aizawa sure didn't take that hint well when he lost at rock paper scissors even though Handa had revealed that he was playing rock. Handa didn't want to be the chairperson, but it took all that just to get him to concede to position to Aizawa, who really wanted that position. Then Reo the fashion model tails Handa around as he realizes that he wasn't enjoying his modeling career, and he sees Handa as being inspiration. Those guys sure are a quirky bunch to say the least.

Thankfully this episode got to the heart of the enjoyablility of Handa-kun. Although I thought the 4th wall joke in the first episode was funny, I agreed it went on too long, and maybe I only thought it was funny because I read the manga and already knew the characters.

LOL, the misunderstandings of this episode is fabulous. I just love how that Reo guy wants to "compete with Handa" while the latter is tring to avoid everything.

OP song is very stylistic to the show, quite crafty. I wish they gave more budget to this series though.

Episode 2:

Simply put, the rock-paper-scissors killed me. XDDD
One wants to be the chairperson and the other does not.
But they just can't see eye to eye....... all the way to its end.

Handa kind of has that Sakamoto effect on his peers, though the way its achieved is completely different. Whereas Sakamoto uses his coolness, hilarious misunderstandings pave the way for Handa.

That rock-paper-scissor game also killed me. Handa kept trying to throw the game by declaring Rock. Unfortunately Aizawa completely over-analyzed the situation. The model portion had some fun parts as well.

Handa-kun EP 2 / "Handa-kun and the Chairperson" -- "Handa-kun and the Model"

I know this was not going to be Barakamon but after just watching Tanaka-Kun / Salamoto / and now Saiki the idea of being different or not bothered or low-key comes too soon with the other animes. So it is hard for me to be enjoy it as much / but still funny

That's my feeling too... Coming on the heels of Sakamoto, it's kind of hard to watch Handa-kun.

Episode 3

Here comes Akane, and this guy used to be girly with a name to fit his former image. Not anymore as he has bulked up. He stayed away from school as he as getting bullied like crazy, but after Handa comes to see him, he returns to school. Then they cook, and the boys cause a fire, while Handa made some disgusting pudding. Then he talks with Kawafuji about some things. Akane sure is quite the quirky dude there seeing that he underwent a big transformation there, and certainly he made a solid impression, all while the show continues to be pretty hilarious.

Oh man that was funny.

Akane with the funny name but acts all tough on the outside. Funny ending as well. I hope we see more of him this season.

He was one of the guys in the first ep, and has a spot in the OP, so I think that's a given. But honestly, I expected Kawafuji to the truant given his 'bad boy' image in the original series.
