I liked Death Note, but hey, everyone has different taste. I recommend dropping it since you don't enjoy it. Don't coerce yourself into watching something just because majority of anime viewers have seen it. But, if you do want to know what the show is about, I recommend just looking at the synopsis instead of boring yourself through the whole anime.

No drop

You will get it if your stats are 50+ completed and zero dropped. Pretty hard to obtain and very easy to lose.

Completionist: You've managed to survive watching so many anime without dropping any of them.
You masochist.

I sometimes actually enjoy watching bad anime as this allows you to understand what makes shows good. This can also be an interesting though exercise as you can not only figure out what is wrong, but why is it wrong, where did it go wrong, and how would you fix this if you this was you on apart of the animation team. Every anime can teach you something although the amount varies wildly between projects.

so do you like physics btw?

Not at all. I started doing a Physics major in first year with a Mathematics minor, and now I'm doing Chemistry Major and Mathematics minor.

Although I prefer to watch shows to the end because I like to maintain a positive perspective about all the shows that I watch, if a show isn't enjoyable then find a show that you do enjoy. I forced myself through hunter x hunter expecting it to get better and it never really did so I had to drop it since it is such a long show. Typically, shorter series I can watch to the end without dropping, but for me to stick around for a longer show, I need to be entertained.

i don't get the appeal. I kept waiting for it to improve and it never did. Gon and killua were bland and uninteresting. the show was packed full of throw away characters with no motivation. No characters actually developed and they were always weaker than practically everybody in the show for the most part.I have no reason to care about gon's quest to find his dad and killua is just along for the ride. The world itself is uninteresting and has a premise that seems to have been taken from a much better show. fights are rare and far between and most of the fights are spent seeing our main characters getting kicked around because they are so pathetically weak. It is like a show that spends a lot of time on buildup that leads nowhere. There were some enjoyable moments in a few arcs but I have seen so many similar shows that just did it so much better. It is crazy that the same guy who wrote this completely below average show wrote yu yu hakusho, one of the best shounen's of all time. That show just did every aspect: characters, plot, story, action scenes, character development, plot progression so much better than hunter hunter did. I watched it and the chimera arc killed it for me. I just realized that nothing was keeping me invested and I didn't care about any aspect of the show so I quit. Life is too short to waste time on below average shows.

I guess I am weird with shounen or something. people love to rag on the big three (naruto, bleach, one piece) and people love to talk trash about fairy tail, but I love all of those shows. I can admit where they decline especially when it comes to filler. But besides filler, I've only had issues with naruto because the shippuden storyline has a whole wasn't all that great in retrospect. I still love the original series though. Bleach has really only becomes a task in its current arc of the the thousand year war which really is seeming to drag at this point and I can agree that the dressrosa arc in one piece was a little too long. However, I still enjoy the shows for what they are. They provide me with entertaining characters, vibrant worlds, and great fights. Like I said earlier, hunter hunter just seemed to fail on all those fronts. I expected more from a show that was given so much hype and praise, but it really was a let down. I kept waiting to become invested and I kept looking for a reason to keep watching and I never found it. For a show with that many episodes, that can be a death sentence of sorts.

Whenever I decide to watch a new anime series I force myself to get through the first episode. It's how I decide whether or not I should continue watching or not-- though I do realize it can be unfair since some animes take some time to develop. Whether I like the first episode or not, I'll get through it. The only anime I haven't been able to get through the first ep was Big Order.

just because a series is popular, doesn't mean you "have" to watch it.

This so much, no point in wasting your time if you don't like it.

If you're watching for your own pleasure, obviously drop any anime the moment you no longer enjoy it- for whatever reason- even if its just you just feel unmotivated suddenly to continue watching something that you up until then had been enjoying. Anime is supposed to be fun.

However if your doing this so you can review animes on your fiancé's website, you should at least make a general practice of trying to see them through, though there can be exceptions. I also think you be very independent in your thinking, ignoring what is and isn't 'popular', other people's opinions, and just watch and decide for yourself what you think and why. That is what is going to make you compared to any other reviewer out there worth reading. Besides, as you can tell from all the responses, what one person disliked the other liked and vice versa. I personally never liked Bleach, Naruto, One Punch Man, and didn't even bother with Death Note because the premise (and reviews) just sounded awful to me.

So if you've seen enough that you can argue for your opinion in a review, and it is valid to say that you found too something to continue watching, then drop it. Just make sure to explain what made it soooo bad.
